Give it time. They're doing al they can over at HLP to get their own multi-player going, and to pimp the new nhanced version of Freespace on GameSpy. There may be a flood of n00b's after 3.6 get's released.

BTW Carthage when you say extracting the media.vp I hope you don't mean you extracted the contents of the VP into your data folder. Cause you're not really supposed to do that.

Well, I was warned about copying it not into the data folder. I placed it in the same folder where the main exe was in. It was the extractor that commited the errors. It has something to do with the last portion of the unzipping.

OK, now going to the FS2 Online...
I already tried playing online although I only started last year. All I was playing with were hard-core and bad-mouthing pilots who didn't seem to accept my entry into their servers. Everytime I talk to them, they seem to delay in replying. Then I discovered that they were actually judging my profile coz they don't play with recent-only players. I didn't like it one bit. I hope to see kinder pilots willing to play FS2 Online.

That's a bit of a shame. Most of the people playing online at the moment though tend to be HLPers rather than the hardcore gamers.
I've found them all to be fun to play against (or with). You may just have been unluck with who you ended up playing against last time though. Multi doesn't have that bad a reputation on FS2 compared with many other online games.

Just the wrong group then. Maybe your a better person to play with. It's just that FS2 no longer was in its golden age. (When 1000 players still raged across the servers.) I thought only the cold hearted ones were left...

...cold hearted ones who sought to play and catch up with the past players desprately so they themselves can overcome the current ranking. Maybe that group I was with were the only bad ones.

(This ain't a drama scene! Seriously!)

Media.vp File not Working

My media.vp file isn't working! It says it's corrupted and broken! I extracted it to the main FS2 folder but it still doesn't work!

Well no, it takes too much time... about two or three hours since I've got a slow modem. 56kpbs. It's connected to a phone line which allows only 2kpbs.

Hard to live with but broadband connection here seems just to be too much expensive.

Okay. I usually wouldn't advise this but try extracting everything from the .vp itself into your Freespace2/data folder. Use VPview (full instructions in my FAQ if you don't already have it).

I'll help you get hold of anything that is corrupt if you end up only missing a couple of files.

I saw the Texture Replacement System in Fred_2_Open but I don't know how to use it. Where should I paste my picture files to replace the other textures? (What folder.)

Put your picture files in data\maps (or if you're using the -mod x switch put it in x\data\maps)
