Aren't the Centauri using beams too?
If not, where did the Narns get them from?

The slight help the Shadows gave might have had something to do with the Centauri victory.

I get the impression that good weapon = instant victory. War is never certain and technology isn't the only factor affecting outcome.
We don't have the Primus in this release (its not done) so you won't be seeing any Centauri beams. The Vorchan is more of a pulsed weapon and missile platform. The Centauri like their rapid fire pulse cannons so thats what you'll see them using the most. The Narn probably bought or stole or developed alot of their own weapons technology BASED on what they captured from the Centauri. The G'Quan beams are essentially the same as the Omega beams.
All I can see is wait to see what we've done. I assure you that its balanced and fun...you won't typically be downed by a capital ship on your first pass...fighters are very important....but don't expect to take a G'Quan out by yourself if its got any sort of fighter defense at all.
Fighters play a tactical role. Taking out subsystems and destroying turrets. We've made sure you can do that.

Yes, the Centauri Ion Cannons can really hurt alot.
But havn't the humans improved the beamsweapons they bought from the Narn. From Battle Lasers to X-Ray Lasers?
And is the GODs Heavy Particle Beam just a bigger verion of the X-Ray or an other technology?
BTW does the GOD Beam make more damage than an Omega Beam in TBP?

If it's anything like the show-you don't want to be anywhere near it.

Battle Lasers are Centauri powered and thus relatively strong...as it goes for us, the Centauri still prefer pulse weapons and the Battle Lasers are typically used to carve up space stations and the like.
They are not what the Narn use however, they use X-Ray technology virtually the same as the EA does. Both have probably been improved since the E-M War days. For our tables, the entry for the Narn and EA is the same. Its pointless to duplicate the weapon....and for the record, the G'Quan is very effective at using them to take down an enemy capital ship. So is the Omega.
Particle beams are in the realm of the Fusion/Neutron beams in power, but slower fire rates typically (and the Warlock mounts 2 on the front VS the multitudes that the Sharlin has).

I'd love to see the "Green Hail Of Death" weapon of the heavier Vree saucer in action. Now that's devistating!

I am wondering how it can be done properly, without events that is.
Perhaps single beam with a texture that makes the beam look like it's consisting of large amount of pulse bolts...

It's so long since I've seen it, but perhaps rapid fire pulse with trail would work?

Oh ****! Those idiots did it.
fury's plan is possible with SCP, but im thinking a pulse turret would look better anyway

Yeah but the problem is that how numerous individual pulse turrets would behave like one big turret in certain situations.
Tricky.

The bigger Vree ship (Xorr I think is the name) can only shoot in one direction (down) right?
I think so. But the saucer is prolly quite agile and the gun helluva powerful...

Multiple turret weapons all concentrated in the same place will do the trick nicely. A good enough arc and these guys will do heavy damage....some kind of AI routine change through source may be needed to make this look good in terms of attack positions however.
