IIRC it's not the size of the ship but the amount of polys and the size of the textures that cause problems.

A 90km ship causes little more stain than a 9km one if that is the case.

My point is that even though the ships *look* great, their sizes are not longer realistic. Not to mention the fact that they make it pointless to have fighters.

Oh. Well I didn't know that...

My MG Team mate Geezer is found of saying "If I can`t blow it up, I`m not interested in it"

Pretty close to my feelings on supercaps actually You can have them in games but you`ve got to be very careful that the mission doesn`t degenerate into you just sitting still and watching the supercaps fight it out.

I think Bearbaiting in FS2 is a good example of how to use a supercap effectively to make a good mission

High Noon on the other hand although a much needed part of the FS2 plot wasn`t actually that interesting a mission once you`d taken out any remaining beams on the sathanas cause you could just go hide behind the colossus and let it do all the work.

I agree, its very dull to watch big ships fighting and unable to do anything to help. Super Destroyers are annoying that way

Well the Shivans have been around for a few thousand years at least.

Why isn't it realistic? I seriously doubt the Sathanas would be the largest ship the Shivans have.
All my large ships (except the Gargant) can be destroyed by a few wings of bombers. Fighters shouldn't be able to effect heavy warships anyway, they just escort the bombers instead. It would be pointless to send a large capship against these as they can outmatch any other ship, especially the 120 turret Gargant.

Well actually the Shivans have been around for a lot longer than a few thousand years, but, the Terrans and the Vasudans haven't. It took them twenty years to produce one ship the size of the Colossus. Now they are producing at least a dozen ships of twice that size in a little under twice the time? They would have to be putting every resource into the prodjects which would leave very little time for actually rebuilding the rest of the fleet.

Yes but if they had fleets of larger ships then why the puny little ships like the Cains cruisers or even the Lucifers? Why would't they just do the Borg thing and send a fleet of Sathani against anything they feel like destroying?
And what kind of bombs are you talking about? Warheads the size of Meson Bombs? Or some kind of Quantum device?

Well not in my campaign they didn't, the Icanus was built in the Sol system and took a lot longer than the Colossus did. It's also one of a kind.

Well why didn't they do that in FS1, they could of sent a group of Sath instead of the Lucifer and its fleet.

[B]You might want the Icanus.

Stats:
15KM+ : Icanus is 20ish
At least 15+ Beam Cannons : Icanus has 14-15 BFSilvs, 1 super beam
Fighterbay, Engine, Weapons, Sensors, Navagation, etc : Yep
At least 40+ Turrents/Flaks/Missile Launcher : 22 flak, 9 double barrel laser cannons, 10 quad torpedo launchers, 10 aaf, 10 missile launchers

Could you give us a turret count for the other big ships in the EA pack? (My computer dislikes modelview and I can't be bothered to fiddle with the tables all the time until I get it right.)
