I think I fixed the little bliping of the warp map, and yes the knossos warpout thing was my doing, I'll put it back if it anoys anyone too much, I did it for TBP.

Just wondering...why's the Ravana in widescreen format?
I can very easily see that in a cutscene... In fact, that looks exactly like it came from a cutscene. When was this added? How did I miss it!?

Edit: Also, is it just me or is the warpout portal about half as large as it should be at the moment?

Posted by Knight Templar on 01-21-2003 08:27 AM:

Why's it wide? Cuz he died.. that or it is out of one of the cutscenes

wierd, maybe I should try the maps again. They didn't look noticibly different, although I only had a chance to play with them on the last level of the main campaign.

yeah, that'd be nice to put it back, I tend to sacrify the knossos warp any for other stuffs, usually.

I got a better idea. There's a check box in the Ship Editor dialog that says "Special Warp". If that box is checked, have the ship use the Knossos warp ani regardless of whether it's coming from a Knossos or not. If the box isn't checked, the regular animation is used. This would satisfy everyone, I think, while still maintaining backwards compatibility.

WMCoolmon: The warp effect should be back to its regular size if you use the warp model. If you use the warp animation, I don't know. Bobboau?

How would I know what it looks like when you die?

Sesqui: Yes, this is using the warp POF. I can't try it using the animation, because that causes FS to crash. In my version of FS2, which I compiled on the 11th, the warp POF is too small for ships. Nearly all the time it's half the size it should be (The ship should only enter the white 'tunnel', but with the current setup they also enter the waves, which doesn't look too great)

You might have an outdated warp.pof file. Try this one and see if it works better.

I think that may be the out dated one, the right one should be 40X40X7, that should be the right size

Yep, this one is 40/40/7. It's the one from January 3, and it seems to work fine.

Did you commit your fixes for the warp stuff yet? I updated and didn't see any difference.

well I did commit after I reworked the glow mapping, (I think it was causeing some random bitmaps to have invalid glow maps and thus would be rendered wrong (as I was seeing in the warp ani) or crash) I thought this thing is what you were talking about, ok so... I guess it isn't what you were talking about,
so what was it, is it the actual animation or is there something in the model it's self
(look at the warp out ani in aniview to make sure you're not talking about the animation restarting when it loops)

I haven't tried the exectuable from this thread on my machine, but on my mates' one explosions would suddenly be replaced by flashes of the sensor display (with thier blue backgrounds).

Yeah, that was happening for a while - rather strange.

But Bobboau - I updated, and neither the warp "blip" nor the Knossos animation was fixed. I didn't see a commit log in my email, either - so I can only assume you never committed in the first place. Update your files, then try committing again.

Turns out the problem was my warp.pof was 20/20/4 as opposed to 40/40/7. Thanks.
