-- RF2 for PC (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=7500)

Maybe you should ask the publisher (THQ) and not the developer. The publishers marketing and PR deparment determines what information is release and not...including if there would be a PC version of RFII.

I still have a little bit of HOPE!

Well PC sales are never as high as consoles due to them being more complacated to use/install/trouble shooting/system specs etc. With the PS2 you just put this disc in and you are off very easy however i hate consoles as they don't have the kind of games i like RTS/RPG/FPS. FPS for consoles an't anyway near as fast paced as on the PC, remember the time when PC Q3A owners got in to the Dream cast servers lmao,

I can't stand consoles because
a) the crappy controller that comes with them and which most console games are written with preference to. I watched a kid play Kingdom Hearts for the PS/2. Awesome game. Horrible controller. Made it impossible for him or I to play well.
b) supposedly now the PS/2 has a method to save games so you don't have to try and play the ENTIRE thing in one sitting - but I'll have to go and see this for myself. Back in the old days there was no such thing...
c) console games have a habit of having too many goddamned NINTENDO MARIO BROTHERS STYLE JUMPING PUZZLES. Ugh. Death to jumping puzzles!
d) What do I see at the stores for console games? Super Mario Brothers LXVII. What have I seen for the PC? System Shock, Starcraft, Warcraft, Star Control, FreeSpace 1/2 (!!!), American McGee's Alice (now THERE IS A GAME, folks!), The Thing, Command and Conquer, need I go on? Those games kick tail. Mario Brothers needs to jump the shark. No offense to die hard Donkey Kong-derivative fans.

I may be wrong but I do not see console games heading towards Red Faction style content. I can never get over the Mario Brothers crap.. or the default console controller... or the fact that most games I've actually PLAYED on the PS/2 and what not, are wired for that controller.. man my fingers are too BIG for that tiny thing!!!!

Oh and how could we have ever been given COUNTER STRIKE if all the gaming companies had migrated to the consoles, where there is no means to make gaming mods? No counter strike, no CTF (CTF also started out as a mod), and so on and so on. The PC gaming scene has flourished and diversified beautifully on the strength of fan-made (and company-encouraged) modifications. Not so for console games!

Rant off. Now I must go pray for the good health of the PC gaming scene.

Dood, you need to get back up to speed. The original PSX could save games, and so could the N64.

As for consoles having crappy games ... well, I don't disagree that they've had some crap, but how about the good ones?! GTA3, Halo, Metal Gear series (to name just a few) ... yea, I think that point is moot when you consider the PC has its share of crap as well.

Point is there are tons of games to be played, don't be such a console hater hahaha

Wow, what a PC freak, and so full of misinformation.

And if your fingers are too big for the controllers, go on a diet.

Why the PS2 bl0ws...yay...2 person multiplayer......fun........And look I can and will cheat by looking at their screen...even more fun

LOL seriously how fun was multi on the PS2 for RF1? Was it basically building tunnels until time ran out? Come play Rf1 on the PC with the big boys. Lets see how well your 1337 PS2 skillz match up Heh Id play you on your PS2 if you gave me a keyboard and mouse...and a plane ticket to wherever ya lived. Nuff said

Edit: BTW my hands are too big for a PS2 controller. My fingertips touch each other Now the XBOX controller I love.

Uhhhh how does a 6', 180lb guy lose weight?
(answer: he buys PS2 games instead of food

Oh wait I forgot, you don't play console games, ya rent 'em.

Posted by EaSyKiLL on 10-26-2002 02:13 AM:

i dont buy console games i copy them

Posted by BruthaDenton on 10-26-2002 02:58 AM:

oh fun.
Copying is probably why Red Faction didn't sell so much!

Posted by The_Croc on 10-26-2002 06:04 AM:

No poor marketing is why Red Faction never sold. Blaming piracy is a joke because thusly no game would sell. Frankly I never paid for Red Faction and I wouldnt have paid for Red Faction. Literally someone gave me their Cd's and said this game is supposed to be cool. SO one night I got bored enough and installed it. Frankly I hadnt heard ANYTHING about Red Faction and stil never recall seeing any actual advertisements in any Gaming Mags and that was back when i read all the major ones on a daily basis.

Basically the majority of people who bought RF IMHO are those that knew it from the console. Not giving a rats behind about a PS2 I didnt even know it existed until i was given my Cd's.

Exclamation game types are built for both PC and Consoles

I have both a ps1 and a PC and I would have to say that different game types work for both PC and Console... Consoles are great for car games (ie. GTA3) and RPG (ie. Final Fantasy... all of em) and sports games. But FPS's is where I would draw the line... I have RF for the PC and a friend with it on his PS2... I have played both A LOT. The game play just isn't there with a controller... There is no fun in knowing where your opponent is... I can't play it on my PC enough though... RF was the first ( that I can think of ) that was made up of a destructable world... You had just as much fun turning floors into swiss cheese as you did taking a fusion rocket launcher to 4 of your friends... I have been around since the days of wolfenstien 3d and FPS WERE built FOR PCs... Control becomes too complex with a controller ( close proximity of buttons, not being able to see what you are doing, ect.) A keyboard is something we use probably 4 to 15 hours a day... Heck, my son is 3 and I am teaching him to type... a console is something that changes every 3 years... I also believe RF got the game speed right... at least with the PC version... compaired to quake's heroin addict pace... Nothing would make this LAN gamer happier that to see RF2 for PC... but after playing RF1 for PS2 I would not buy a shooter for a console... One man's opinion... If it comes out for PC for Christmas, It goes on the "to santa" list... If it comes out tomarrow, It goes on the "2 do" list...

I really believe that game developers have gotten things really mixed up in that FPS just don't really work for consoles.

The only decent one I have played was HALO and the only reason it was decent was because it's levels were so huge, seeing each-others sreens was not a real issue, the vehicles were a cool feature, and the fact I played it on a 65" TV...

Sorry for the manual, but I really do LOVE RF and want another... I just would like for you guys to think about how much more complex this issue is...

BTW, after having RF for the PC and playing with my friends on his PS2, I have never lost... The game speed is that freekin slower...

What good is a game if you can't play it on line? Sure the PS2 version is fun for a little while. But Bots just dont like to talk to me.. RF 2 for PC is in my prayers..

OK, playing with the big boys... I used to sit online playing Doom and all following. Then, the real world set in and I decided to console it and use the computer for more monitary means.

Running out of time? What is this time you are thinking of? AFAIR, you didn't need a time limit.

And if you needed to look at the other screen to play, then you were not engrossed enough in the game to play fairly.

At first, I didn't like using a controller for FPS'. I loved my mouse and keyboard, and was booted from many a Quake II server for being an unfair advantage for the team (I loved Jailbreak!). After a while, you get used to the controller and learn how to speed up the X and Y axis so that you can spin your character around on a dime!

I'm not looking to go online and prove my worth, I have a life and bought the consoles to fill that gaming void in my life. FPS' on the console are a blast during those late night parties with the guys from the old town. Hell, we broke out the Atari 2600 and played Warlords till 4 a.m. (once).

Thank God for GTA3 Miami. I need to get my aggression out this week.

I have got a pc and i hav been playin fps since well they came out, and i love fps, i agree to ppl fps are ment for the pc and not a dam console apart for halo (that game is mint). anyway redfaction was no different i loved it, but i hav got board of playin the same single player maps over and over again. then 1 day i was watchin tv and the programme i was watchin came up that it was sponsed by rf2, and i onced again wanted to own this game for me pc, so i rused to the website and i was goin to order the game, but when i got there i found out that it was only on the ps2 and may never apear on the pc. i am very unhappy
, redfaction was a great game, it was one of the games i played with my bros over our network, and with rf2 it wound have been no different, but it seems that this could never happened. there are more ppl out there with pcs than ps2, give us rf2 for our pcs, cos rf2 and pcs rock!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT REDFACTION2 NOW!!!!!! Gimmie.........

Posted by Moronic on 10-31-2002 09:42 AM:

there aint much point in releasin Red Faction 2 on the Pc because unreal tournament 2003 is already out and most ppl will be caught up over that an wont bother buying RF2!!!

this would be unfortunat because I'v been w8tin 4 RF2 cince i compleated both vertions of RF1!!! (Pc and Ps2)

Posted by netrik on 10-31-2002 09:48 AM:

the guys got a point...

i mean as u said... the PC market is full of FPS games... and bringing another one onto the market will not be a good idea, unless it could compete with the major frag-tag titles like Quake, Half-Life, UT and every-other FPS title...

so i think its safe to say that they should bring RF2 out on the PS2...
