thats the thing i have no idea where it lives, it ran away, it might not BE alive. And wheres the registry and the keys?

Click on run from your starmenu and then type in regedit and press enter.

You may wish to export your registry first just in case something goes wrong. Do this by clicking on the registry menu and clicking on export.

In Regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Volition/FreeSpace2 and delete everything in the FS2 folder (including the folder itself).

Restart your machine and put in CD1. If all goes well your computer will think that FS2 has never been installed on your computer and will proceed to try to install it.

Take the log out of the Recycle Bin. That's what I did when mine got accidently deleted. I thought it was corrupted, but it was just deleted.

There is no Freespace.log file. I know cause I looked for it. If it has been deleted it goes by some other name. Infact there isn't anything followed by .log in the FS2 directories As far as I can see.

I think the uninstall log has a different name. I just don`t know what it is.

But if you remove the registry entries I said to remove it won`t matter. Windows will think that you never installed FS2 so you can simply delete the Freespace 2 directory and reinstall.
