Even the VBB calmed down in it's last days though. In the last month I actually saw newbies ask similar questions and actually get answered without flaming.

Although there are differences between the two, I like to think that both here and HLP have their place and their uses. I frequently visit both. From what I can see, they both have good things to offer, on the most part the campaigns. There may be less here, but that's because of a smaller community. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that one).

Well that's me done. Have a nice day.

I agree with Hudzy. BOth have their place. And Have a nice day aswell!

Actually, I thought it was the T-V War project. That's what I've been calling it. What does our website say Thor?

I'm the manager, and I named it the T-V War project.

Not to piss on your wheaties.

Yes, most newbies don't get flamed anymore, even for stupid questions. They only get slaughtered if ZylonBane catches them asking how to use the beams. And you can't blame people for getting frustrated because a newbie asks how to use the beams. It is kind of time consuming for the "Newbies First Missions: ALWAYS has Battle of Endor Syndrum", so they ask on a forum, hoping to find a different way. Since they are new, they don't know about the search, or that this question has been asked millions of times.

As for you guys saying that HLP is "Hostile". I tend to stay away from this forum, because I think THIS forum is actually hostile. No offense everybody, but can we just keep the peace? I'm not sure whether aquadwar is still up. If it is, we could just have a huge war? That would be cool. Let's just not argue. (God, I feel like an Admin).

We agree. Don't ask obvious questions, or try to get help on campaigns on this forum. Do it at HLP. As for newbie stuff. All newbies should report here. And then when they are good enough, migrate north to HLP.

As for that crack from Lady Rose about the "Accurate Comparison".

Hades i couldn't disagree more about your last statement. Or about this place being hostile. They may not be willing to help out a new campaign, but then again, if we go by percentages of the people active at HLP and how many actually work on the CF staff, and then Compare that percentage here, it would probably be very small. I check both places daily. Both have given me inspirations for CF ideas, and i have found ships for the mod through both communities, and have argued in both communities, and have a general acceptance in both. People are people, some are rude, some are kind, some are apathetic. You will find a combination of those wherever you go.

But.....what are the chances of us pulling back onto the topic...?

Just wondering what CF has to do with my last post. And I didn't mean it as a bad thing, the recruiting not being good. I know HLP is a better place to ask for staff. That's something HLP does better. Here a VW, people are more "Open". I lot of topics that discuss stuff about fs2 (Motives, Methods, Fan Fiction) appear here. That's what this forum usually has in it.

HLP is mostly the center of MODing in the community. VW is not. That's not bad. This is more of a newbie forum, lots of posters are here asking HOW to MOD. Not aksing about ideas, or staff for MODs:Because they don't know how to MOD yet.

EDIT: Also, this place is a good place to get inspiration for storyline, etc.

CF has nothing to do with your last post, with the exception of using it as an example. If we get 3 out 500 at HLP that equates to .6 out of 100 here, that means less that 1.

As far as this being a newbie place to post, i have to disagree. You see just as many people asking advice in the HLP forums. Some people are having the same problems there that they are here, but are afraid to ask over there. This place doesn't cater to newbies, it's just more tolerant. Maybe some of the people at HLP should take a lesson in tolerance.

I'm not flaming this forum, but the people at HLP are just fine. Maybe they are a little impatient, but they aren't nearly as bad as the VBB was. This place is more tolerant to newbies, and that's acceptable, and not surprising. They have a smaller community here. HLP has a large community, and many newbies. After about a million newbies make dumb posts, then you might get a liitle short. The thing that we have yet to see on either forum is Trolls. We have done our best to ignore them, and they haven't got any of our forums yet.

Thor's post says that both of these forums have there purposes, and places. I totally agree. Can we stop fighting, and get on with what we were doing? I would ask the admins to close this thread, but I don't think that would be fair to the people who started it, so admins, leave this thread alone.

i didn't think we were fighting. I thought we were just discussing the differences between the forums. As far as flaming goes, i never accused you of it. And for the dumb questions....there is an easy way to handle them.....either ignore the post, or teach the newbie.

Last, i didn't say the people at HLP, i said some. but this has gotten way off topic.......i agree, we should end it here, your rebuttle, i will remain silent after.

My rebuttle? Okay, how's this? Let's just agree to disagree. we both have our own opinions. Let's just keep them to ourselves. Anybody want to post something relevant to the topic?

I know what you've called it, but it's wrong... The name of the V-T war is officially titled as the 14-Year War by Volition themselves.

It was really the General Discussion forum over at HLP that did it for me. People talking about human life being inconsequential and morals being unimportant in the final analysis. As I read all that I kept thinking to myself who are these people?

It wasn't the "nice" time I usually associate with laid-back forum-browsing. My "fear" of HLP has nothing to do with flames/SPAM. I participated in my fair share of both over on the VBB. No, it was the content and the sheer seriousness of those posting it.

Sorry for posting off-topic...again...but I felt compelled to defend my point of view. And bring a little balance back to the picture.

Yes, but We've named it the TVWar project. If you'd like, we can name it the TV/14 Year War.

Ok. I'd prefer to call it the 14 year war. But it's your project. Plus, I was wondering how the GTA are going to refer to it. They can't refer to it as the 14-Year War coz it hadn't gone that long at that stage.

YEah, I think the cofusion is that at the start of FS1, its called the T-V War, but in FS2 its called the 14 year war, or something like that. Either way, it doesn't matter to much, they both mean the same thing. And that's all right Peg, might as well turn this into a usefull thread .
