Never played online, and I still can't beat BearBaiting perfectly.

How much.....anything up to 300-400ms should be ok to play...and the pl limit should be about 15-20...

anything in that range is acceptable...

And 56k is ok to have on PXO, you just can't host for more than 1 person...max 2 i think (on some really good 56k's)...

I wasn't refering to FS1... I was refering to FS2. What I was trying to say is that due to my long time in FS1, my piloting style has its roots from FS1

Well, I live in Portugal, in small village, and believe me, a 56k looks like more of 34k or something

Shouldn't be very bad on any german host... I think even I would be able to give you a good ping.....

And if you do drag the roots from fs1, better for you because fs2 battle was only made easier than what it was in fs1.....

You people underestimate the pings from Israel. Even if the starting ping is okay, the sustained ping is almost always horrible, and I've got frickin' DSL, not Dialup

Finland doesn't have so bad ping... And I'm on 56K.

And since that most people says about Finland: "Aint it capital of Norway?"

Bah, anyone who has remote interest in coding or the demoscene knows Finland will eventually rule the world. You're too smart up there

I played Squad Wars for a while with a website team. We kicked a bit of ass till people started lag bombing us all the time and then we sort of stopped.

Most of my flying online proved to be in the MAD category (mutally assured destruction).

They shot me down as I shot them down (and these guys were good)...or their cruiser went up in a fireball just at the same time as our cruiser went up.

I didn't have a huge number of victories VS other players...but I put them in their place a fair number of times.

The level of skill changed drastically throughout the time. You wouldn't believe it, but the past "vets" look like child play today. Probably has to do something with finding out new things or the fact that the newer joysticks are better or something. And one of the best parts is that nobody lag bombs anymore because nobody knows how to do it. Even if people knew how to do it, they wouldn't be doing it because there is a lot more sportsmaship these days... I learned to lag bomb the day before yesterday actually... and I have no intention of using it in a SquadWar. Even though I know that for the next SW I have it would be very useful... and I know that the other team doesn't know how to do it.

You need to learn about the lag then...

Lag is when the time taken to send and recieve data becomes a noticeable hinderance. Thats not the official definition, but its the commonly accepted one.

So if your ping time is 1000ms...(1 second)...people are going to complain of lag because whatever they do will take 1 second to register. A big deal in a fast paced combat game.

Lag bombing is taking advantage of a FS2 bug wherin using a special technique the player could launch twice or three times as many bombs as usually allowed (ie. negating the reload time for weapons like the Helios and Cyclops).
