-- Where to buy? (https://volitionwatch.game-warden.com/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=6795)

I bought FS2 at least two years after it came out, so by then I was probably too late to save the FreeSpace series.
Oh, well. At least I know I'm not an Agent of Darkness / Pirate / THQ employee.

So if they don't sell a billion copies in less than 30 days after release, they then write it off and no next version? They are short sighted morons.

If you can't find a copy anywhere now, does that mean they now have sold enough for FS III? Hey, it's sold out.

My friend got a new system some 3 years ago, and fs2 was on it, and he didn't like it, so he just transfered it all to me... He knew i liked fs1... as for buying fs2, try Walmart or staples, i've seen them there...

Well I can't afford the Audi that I want. I can't afford the Allen Edmonds shoes that I want. And I'd love a copy of Adobe Photoshop.

That does NOT mean I'm going to go and take them. I don't want to be a thief.

That being said, something completely out of production, with the source code being released to the public, I don't think my conscience would bother me on Freespace 2.

A good way to prevent further source code releases.

Most companies like to release source for two reasons. First the fans like it but also that it can cause a slight increase in the sales of the game as people who didn`t buy it before buy it now that modified versions are coming.

FS2 can be had for a few £'s or $'s. Don`t be tight. Search for a copy. If you really can't find one then you have a point but I see copies of FS2 all the time. I got a friend to buy a copy in HMV only a month or two ago.

How come we can never have a discussion on where to buy games without software piracy coming up?

Anyways, I'll keep this open as long as no one posts any links to warez sites. (You wouldn't do that anyways, right? )

Anyways, your best bets are online stores like Amazon. You could probably turn a copy or two up in just about any bargin bin (especially in malls near people who's idea of a good game is Deer Hunter, like where I live).

it says in the copyright info that you can burn copys of the game, legally. So if somebody wants to burn it for him, its completely legal.

You can burn copies for your own use. Not to give away to a friend

I thought it said you can burn copys of this software and give to friends and aquaintances. As long as you don't charge for it, don't ask for donations, or include it with another product. I'll check the copyright but I'm sure that's what it says. but, heck. I probably missed something. Anyway. If Freespace2 is no longer availaibe that tells the public that they don't really care about it.

Oh, and by the way, I did get mine legally for $20. Sci-Fi SIM of the year version. twice.
