at last people being honest.
Everyone that i meet while playing FS2 online all say they have finished FS2 on Insane and since FS2 has a more advanced AI then FS, i think they are lying.
I have trouble passing the mission where you need to inspect the cargo containers where you get the Shields, Sensors and Weapons.

i remember back in the 'ol SSC days, 7 of us tried to do a run-through on the shivan gauntlet - on insane.
the only thing i can remember, is half of my team laughing over the intercom as i'm about 80 klicks out, hunting down that one, last dragon! it was worth it in the end, though. I believe we made it through

i can barely destroy a fighter on INSANE

Going up against a wing of Dragons on Insane is suicide.
I can't beat the second mission of FS1 on Insane, and I can only get up to Love The Treason on FS2.

Well, I've gotten over 30 kills on "Unstoppable" on FS1 Multiplayer on Insane

Re: Freespace 1 & 2 Difficulties
Sigh...here we go again, always complaining...
quote:your own damn fault for choosing a difficulty level you're not ready to handle. Have you noticed that ais litterally fly in straight lines on easy? so what do you think they do on insane? I'll give you a hint: they move. [V] invented the INSANE difficulty level for a reason, its for experienced players who want a challenge, if you dont want a challenge, dont play it on insane.

I have noticed that on INSANE difficulty, the AI ships have UNLIMITED Afterburner energy or EXTREMELY fast recharge rates, which is unfair.

I used to play FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 online, but got fed up with people playing it on INSANE.
All they care about is the points.

I want to have fun, and you can't have fun if you get killed by the AI within 2 seconds of being shot at.

Personally, i think whoever says that they have finished the entire FreeSpace 2 Campaign on INSANE difficulty is a downright liar.

Because on INSANE difficulty, a Cap-Ship's Anti Fighter Beams take of like 20% of Hull regardless of shields.

Also, the fighters are 100% more manuverable and have faster recharge rates for shields, weapons AND Afterburner, if not unlimited.
quote:if you cant blow up anything short of a rock, you might want to consider a easier game, i recomend solitair; but in that game everything is somewhat dependent on odds, so you'd probably just end up complaining about how that is so unfair too that not all hands are winnable. Go back to the ****-hole you crawled out of newbie.

So far, on INSANE difficulty, i have yet been able to blow up a chunk of rock, since i don't live long enough to get to a chunk of rock.

Ease up, Lieutenant!
The AI already grilled him (j/king).
The line between "real, hardcore challenge" and "impossible" varies from person to person.
