-- Size and Capital Ships: Does it matter? (https://volitionwatch.game-warden.com/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=6666)

Colossus was a good psychological weapon though - the nTf kamikazed the Repulse without effect - they were too scary of it to even try fighting. The Colossus just wasn't built to handle Shivan ships designed with equal beams, all focused on one angle. But it could probably fairly easily annihilate anything smaller than a Sathanas if it broadsided it.

Yeah, imagine the boost it gave to the GTVA's morale!

the boringest mission i ever had, was me in a apollo, with dual ML16s, pitted against a lucifer.

3 hours later, OF COURSE I WON.

Silent Threat

god, that last mission was the longest two(dunno) hours of my life. I spent an hour and a half fiercely protecting my last bomber (who was quite the epileptic, as he kept spazing about) only to lose him. that REALLY pissed me off. when they kept coming and coming and I had 160something kills that kept rising, I thought "this is rediculous" and I did what any pissed off pilot would do. I flew into a small crevice\trench in the hull of the Hades and I set the time compression to 4x and opened up with my lasers. 10 minutes or so (IRL), the bizatch blew up and I got away with all of my 3% hull.

I`ve never heard anyone else say they did this but I just flew a bomber instead.

Sure it made shooting the loki's harder but it made taking the Hades down much easier.

Why you think I said that

"Colossus was made to stop anyfuther Shivan threat" And you see what happened... I think they should already learn.

They had no idea of existing such vessels as Sathanas. The Lucifer was big enough to be dangerous and annihilate any opponent, so they thought the Colossus should be able to stop anything, even the other Lucifer.

( well I thought as I saw the GTVA Colossus that something should happen with that vessel).

And I think that even if there was built something superb to the Sathanas by the GTVA the Shivans would use something bigger than theSathanas, probalby they haven`t said their last word.

And that proves that GTVA command is lacking vision for future...

Either human race has became dumb or they really dont think that Shivans return...

I think the problem is they have no idea what else can Shivans deploy and there`s a problem of the costs.
Collossus was bulit for 20 years, and costed a lot. How much should have costed a supercap designed to withstand and destroy attacking Sathanas?

I think the only thing that can be developed is a spacecraft and bomb mightyenough to be able to take down a Sathanas.

ENOUGH with the Colossus already!

Now... the argument of small vs. big is all in the weapons. The larger the ship, the bigger the guns. For example, only the Colossus was big enough to carry BFGreens, while weapons get lower calibur as you go down. Large ships (Destroyers) can carry big beams to take out other cap ships, and small ships (Cruisers) can carry anti-fighter weapons. Corvettes carry a variety of small anti-cap beams and anti-fighter weapons, making them OK at both roles. A pair of Aeolus escorting an Orion has about the same capabilities as three Deimos 'vettes. The difference is that the Orion can carry smaller craft.
