So has the range issue been resolved? IE. Will the beams travel to infinity...or do they stop.

Nope, apparently not yet. It's still possible to limit that range that AI uses them though.

So what? No dumbass can hit a fighter unless its closer than 500m...
And there is no fun in shooting capship from 30km away. No honour in that, no glory...

Is it possible to let a beam look like waves?
Is wave the right word?
I mean let them look like the beams used by vorlon fighters and cruisers.
The Dreadnaught uses a "normal" beam as far as I remember.

You are meaning a lightning kinda beamy? Yes?
And dreagnought uses cool lightning beam too. I think.

BTW. I am hearing thunder here.
Ah. Finnish summer... I'll go outside to see if there is any lighting visible... in the sky...

If I remember correctly (probably don't ), the problem with a detailed beam graphic for regular beams was that the beam itself would be stretched indefinitely. If the beam failed to hit anything and shot off into the infinite depths of space the beam graphic got stretched infinitely as well, distorting any detailed graphic and making it indistinguishible from the rest. However, if you've got a highly accurate beam that can reliably hit a target 10/10 times then this isn't as much of a problem.
