Sorry, I just thought that this was a healthy public discussion since we all know that everyone has their different stab at this. You know the basic ones being that one side goes to the part of accusing Volition for every problem they have with the game, or others accusing THQ for this, arguing the case that since THQ came aboard everything stopped with Volition games, etc. So I thought we might as well discuss it in public since this is the General Discussion forum .

But ok, I see your point, so I'll stop now...

I should clarify. I have nothing wrong with healthy public discussion and in fact like it; a lot. However this was turning into you and ZylonBane and NOBODY else, which is why I made my previous comment.

Man, you are _so_ negative. THQ has pretty much identical amounts of input on our games as Interplay ever did. Hell, in 2 games we even had the same producer. I would even go as far as to say THQ gives us much broader control over game design. If we were an indie developer and shipping meant getting a paycheck, we'd be _way_ more likely to have to force something out earlier than we'd like.

THQ has been nothing but positive for us, from start to finish. And that translates to better for _you_ guys. (right about now is where Zylonbane reaches for the "quote" button to start his patented clever/sarcastic rebuttal

I doubt this will change many minds as everyone always seems to want to believe the worst. Look at it this way - not having to worry about money all the time totally opens the floodgates in terms of the potential cool games we can make. If we were still just Volition, well, there's a good chance we wouldn't even exist anymore.

Maybe RF PC had fewer patches than people expected" but what I think the bulk of the RF community is looking for is an offical answer from [V] about these issues...and the reason why the support stopped...I mean a load of people are still holding on incase a patch is throwen out etc etc...you know what I mean

I was under the impression that we had made some kind of offiical statement at some point. But I've been waist deep in ... stuff ... for several months now so I could be wrong. If that's the case, I'll fire off some emails and see if I can't kick start the old PR machine.

FreeSpace 2 was "competing" with Klingon Academy? Wow, Interplay must have been nuts over there. No wonder they are pretty much a non-publisher at the moment (or so it seems). I wish they would either die or announce that they have products again. This limbo is kinda annoying

Yeah, the name of the game with FS2 was constantly "how is this cooler than Klingon"? They had some kind of nebula effect sort of thing, and they kept bringing up the fact that Klingon allowed you to fly in and out of the nebula. It was a pretty constant battle to prove to Interplay that yes indeed, we were the cooler game. To be fair, Jim Boone (our Interplay producer) knew we were cooler, but its the producer's job to sort of keep nagging the dev team for this and that. In the end it was for the best. I'm pretty sure we shipped way before them as well. A little friendly rivalry never hurts.

RF NEEDs a patch,
have you played it online at all in the last few months?
it is infested with cheaters
make sure it can't read tables from the UI.vpp and it'll be enough
this is the big killer

Bobbau, I'll be straight with you.

- I have no control over what gets patched/supported/whatever.

- I have no interest in discussing/arguing/whatever about the issue here.

- I enjoy participating in the FS community. I _don't_ enjoy going over the same issues I have no control over for the 1001st time.

I'm sure this will be taken the wrong way, but hey, that seems to be the norm. ::shrug::
