Theres something you can try. Go to the search utility and find dxdiag.exe file, run it and then click "MORE HELP" tab.
then click "OVERRIDE" tab at the bottom. imput the numeric value of you current desktop refresh frequency, if you monitor is digital (70% of them are) it should apply same color settings for 3D game same as you desktop. For 15' monitor this frequency might be 85hz, for 17' and up it could be 100HZ or 120HZ check out your dysplay properties for this.

Your problem should be solved now.

you may well of just saved several of my games, working on this now, ill get back to you (btw, for some reason, FS2 is now working with brightness, and, i have no f-ing clue why, i just thought id try it out again, and, all of a sudden, brighness

haderak: 70% of monitors are digital? How about maybe 7%? DVI on LCDs isn't exactly common, and I don't know any CRTs with DVI (since, hey, CRTs != digital) ... so ...

as for drivers, I use guru3d.com they have every version of Detonator out there, including many a beta.

As for FS2 gamma, hum. Play with all the lights off. Not only does it add atmosphere, it helps you see

This is in the main page "Doesn't work with the 27.41 and newer drivers." This is mainly because nvidia has changed something in those and newer drivers.

You'll find latest official drivers from nvidia.com which works with refresh rate fixer.

Many games such as Operation Flashpoint have their own Frequency refresh settings override, check them out.
for Open GL games you might want to select "Use deskto settings" for gaming.
Of course if you changed the refresh frequency to desktop's and while before 3d games were dark its more than natural they are all too bright right now. youll have to revert gamma back to normal levels.

EGGxactly what I meant. If you have those ridiculous rollers then its analogic and will darken throught time wich sux.
Digital monitors will keep each Resolution/frequency/screen size color settings in its own ROM memory.
