This is one of the few B5 things I've actually seen, but IIRC, they wanted to become gods - or move to a higher plane of existence (a new dimension).... except they found hell instead.

(hey, quite a good metaphor that )

well here goes The Hand are ment to be far worse than the Shadows. I dont think they would kid i think they are older than the shadows and Vorlons but aint been seen for centeries.

Thirdspace aliens where tough i mean there fighters did heavy damage to the younger races. I just wish got to see how Hard there capital ships were. I do hope we get to see the Hand and i hope it aint like the Shadow war. A massive build up only to be let down.

Let down?!? I think that what JMS came up with was one of the few ways that he could retain the mystery surrounding the Shadows and Vorlons yet have a satisfactory resolution to the crisis. What with all of the planet killing going on I don't think that a protracted war would have left much left to play out an interesting Babylon 5 universe.

I am also pretty sure that while JMS probably hadn't pictured the Hand in any detail (if even in name) then he certainly had it in mind that not every ancient race from across the galaxy (let alone universe) had gone beyond the rim and stayed there. You never know, the Hand may be an ancient race from another galaxy that is exploring this one. With the recently improved EA and ISA tech a war would be closer than the one against the Vorlons and Shadows.

BTW, Lorien said that the Shadows were the first sentient race to explore the galaxy after his own race so being older than the Shadows would be some achievement. As they have shown though, being older does not necessarily equate to being more advanced (compare Shadows to Vorlons or EA to Narn)

EA is closer to being the youngest of the spacefaring races and look at what they have accomplished. Even after the Earth Minbari war, they were still considered a superpower as that part of the galaxy was concerned.

True, in some degree.
But... Narns were also fighting in the last Shadow War, in that war the Shadows killed all Narn telepaths and their families. Perhaps they didn't have space ships then, or then they had but were bombed back to stone age, and had to start over.

Question, question, questions... and not so many answers.

I don't think the Narns were fighting so much in the last Shadow War. The Shadows just came along and wanted a base on Narn, but they said no, so the Shadows killed all the Narn telepaths and moved on.

According to the AoG rulebooks, the Narn were first conquered by the Centauri in 2113 and became independent (and forming their own jump capable ships in 2210). The EA first gained jump technology from the Centauri in 2163 and built its first jump capable ships later that year.

The Narns were involved in intergalactic politics before the EA, and some of its citizens travelled to other worlds but they were not free to do as they pleased until they gained their independence.

Just for comparison's sake, the Minbari acquired jump technology in 1105, Centauri in 1438, Drazi in 1395, Brakiri in 2080 and there are many others.

I'm saying Earth was in space the least amount of time compaired to the other major powers.

It'll be interesting to see what actually happens in real life in terms of the space program. None of us will live to see the time of Babylon 5, but the next few decades will be interesting.
