Fury: I was at work when FS2 came out and was actually calling stores on a break asking if they had it in. My boss thought I was nuts.
However, I got off at 5 (IIRC), ran down to the local Babbages, the only place that had it, paid like $51, ran home ...
I didn't sleep that night.

I called every store in the area. The first to have it was up at an EB about 25 minutes away. So...I went, got it, played it for many an hour
Blasted WildWolf had it first so he posted a piccy or two on PlanetFS (FSW now)...and I drooled on the floor. Its still wet, no,really

Campaign update!
My campaign is nearly done! After starting out with a bang, progress has gradually slowed (what with school and all) until now it's barely a crawl. All the missions have been written - all I have to do is beta-test them (which I've been doing all along, but I have to finalize it). Except, depending on the story, I may need to make a few more missions to "flesh it out"...I dunno. I'll be away for six weeks this summer, but I'm hoping to have the campaign done by mid-September. Sorry to keep anyone waiting!
If you'd like to see the campaign description, go to
http://kissifrot2605.free.fr/campaigns_list.php
and look for Fortunes of War. (As of this posting it's not there yet - should be soon.)

FS1, got it right when it came out. Remember the box, the way it flipped out and gawked at the size of the ships, and etc... remember there was a bad storm that day too so I was not able to play it
didn't get to it for almost a week. But the intro just grabbed me so much, that I was hooked immediately.
I loved the game so much, and wanted the sequel really bad, but for one reason or another, I never got it. Finally, after reading in an issue of PC Gamer bout 3 years back, I decided to buy the game that christmas. No it was not a review of the game... But a small blurb about about a team of developers/modders who were working on making a Total Conversion for FS2 to turn it into a B5 game.... I wonder what ever happened to those guys :-P
I liked 2 more, beat it before I beat the first one, it definately killed my grades sophmore year of college, but hey, the bastards took down the Colossus... (and once I had reinstalled FS1, I couldn't let them get away with scrapping the Galeta(sp?))

The intro... ah the intro....
That's just one of the best moments ever in any space-figther sim.
The atmosphere in that two minutes long CGI-movie where just uniqe.
Not even Diablo 2 managed to create such a atmosphere. After seeing it, I where in the FS universe. I where a pilot of the GTA (in my mind of course).
The story of Freespace (both 1 & 2) is great, on the line with the best sci-fi books I have read (Gateway and Footfall, and so on).
The story of freespace is very complex, and very uniqe as well in sci-fi sence.
I have never seen a film that features such a complex, engaging and inspiring story.
The story of Freespace are one of those rare once, one of those that make you dream on, beyond the story and into fan-fiction.
Only few other computer-games has had such a impact. The most important once are Outcast and the freeware space-exploration game Noctis (both with great stories that leaves you wondering of what might happen next).
Freespace is simply the best and most complex sci-fi story I have ever seen in a sci-fi space-fighter computer game.
It's not the story that is created to support the game, it's a game created to support a story...
Stargazer.

I don't play it a lot any more. I may play through the campaign again, though... Mods would be nice.
