I've never seen a Badger bomber in action before. Which episode?

About the Thunderbolt, all I ever saw it fire were its one cannon and it can carry 4 missiles as evident in Severed Dreams.

Badger had an appearance in "A Voice in the Wilderness 2".

Screencap from that scene:

Actually, in a gatling gun, only the barrels rotate. This is not so much to improve the rate of fire, but to improve sustained fire. If you have six barrels, you can sustain your max ROF for six times as long without having to worry about the barrels melting.
You COULD mount four pulse cannons in a rotating configuration so that you get four times the fire rate.

Generally accepted gamer speak indicates that 'linked' means all firing at once, rather than in rapid succession. Had they been called 'chain' then it would be perfectly acceptable to have them fire individually to increase fire rate.

You COULD have it fire four shots at once in a rather tight cluster from the same gun port...

No, more than the barrel!
Can be seen on that page
http://www.howstuffworks.com/machine-gun2.htm
otherwise the the dropping of the case would take too long. and your firing pins too.

Thats a machine gun they are talking about.

I think there is a distinction...

Even so, the first gatling gun looked like it was an old fashioned cannon. I doubt that it spun around....

There is a distinction between the definitions of gatling, chaingun, machine gun, submachine gun, etc.

The modern definition of 'gatling' is most likely different from the original...if I remember right the original gatling was more of a volleygun than anything resembling something like the M61 Vulcan.

edit: Neimad's right - I too remember the original gatling was crank-operated.

For example, the first distinction between a submachinegun and a machine gun is the SMG shoots full-auto but uses pistol ammunition. The MG shoots full-auto and uses different ammo - usually rifle ammunition or sometimes a special round all its own. That line has been blurred by round standardization (such as the proliferation of the NATO 5.56x45 rounds) but that's the original distinction between the two.

Actually, IIRC, the first gatling gun did indeed rotate; via the use of a crank handle and an operator with a strong arm.

from what I have seen on the show:

Starfury:
2 heavy cannons (below pilot) - seen fired in many eps
2 light cannons (above pilot) - seen fired in 5th season Intro/Thirdspace Movie

Thunderbolt:
1 heavy gattling type cannon (below pilot) - seen fired in many eps
2 light cannons (below wings) - seen fired in Crusade's first aired episode, T-bolts make firing run on Drakh soldiers

T-Bolt has better weapons, atmosphere flight capablity, AND IS MORE MANOUVERABLE! Its design is created like 20 years after the Starfury, atmosphere is an added bonus, but does not reduce manouverability. So better thrusters/weapons and scanners even.

Where am I getting this info? Pulling it out of my ass....

First gatling gun's were invented in 1860-1880(I'm not compleatly sure) and they didn't rotate outside, but inside. Outside it was covered and had only one barrel, but inside it had 6-8 barrels which rotated and it was invented by doctor Gatling. First time it was used in American Civil war and then Japan's revolution.

At what part excatly? If you mean the part where starfuries chase the red attackers(or whatever, the race from "a view from the gallery") fighters, then they are normal guns, starfuries are just going around wildly.

And if you mean the scene that's both in the season 5 intro and thirspace, where a starfury chases zephyrs past a freighter, then you can't actually see the starfury when it's firing, so you can't tell where those bolts came from.

Posted by Londo Molari on 01-12-2002 05:14 PM:

its the one in which 2 starfurys are upclose to the camera with their cockpits and all you see is the top guns firing

On scifi's trailers for re-running the original babylon 5 movies, you can clearly see a starfury firing yellow/orange energy bolts from the top gun ports. Perhaps you could add a secondary weapon in the form of an ammo-dependant autocannon to those gunports. But there's no reason whatsoever to simply ignore them.

Umm....the other guns on the T-Bolt mentioned up there....I see them nowhere in Warzone. Nowhere.

Same with these supposed guns on the StarFury. I know Mr. Fury or CptWhite thinks he might have seen something on the Season 5 introduction, but definately not anything thats orange comes from the Aurora.

Download a short capture from Season 5 intro where SF fires all four guns from here. (Only 159 KB)

Notice blue flashes in the below of the first SF, looks like it's firing all four guns.

And notice to everyone: even if SF can fire all four guns at same time, it won't be implemented, PERIOD.

Edit: Discussed this with IceFire, he says he can see only two guns firing... so, what you think? Two or four?

*sigh* I'll be damned...

No, in that clip, those furies are upside-down relative to the camera.

However, I have a GRWAT compromise idea;

Give the fury the ABILITY to mount a primary or secondary weapon that fires from that slot, and let US play around with it as WE like in our own campaigns/missions/whatever.

Grrr... there's flashes that indicates that it's firing all four guns...
Am I imagining things?

And no, we won't do that. Aurora is finely balanced as it is, no more guns will be added.

You will have Badger and Thunderbolt, all the ships are balanced when released. So, stop whining.

Remember kids, game balance comes before pure canon accuracy.
