According to you, more advanced automatically = more powerful. And your flat wrong.

Its a fighter. Its fighter sized. Treat it as such.

And just to add to the general fun of the thread, the BlueStar is not almost as big as a WhiteStar, 1/4 the size I believe. If you factor in the fact that certain things such as reactors etc have a 'critical mass' it's not 1/4 as powerful.

Oh and we're not turning on signature IMG code.

The BlueStar should be *DIFFERENT* than the Nial. To represent a different play experience.

Something like its weapons are more powerful than a Nial but they are pulse weapons so have a much more limited energy bank (i.e. You can fire the Bluestar for about as long as on the Starfury). Also, you could make each weapon separate, with possible linking. This I feel would balance up the firepower issue, leaving you free to make the Bluestar as fast and manouevrable as the Nial

BlueStar is also more of a courier. It seemed to have fantastic range, from Minbari, to B5, to Coriana 6. Thats really good for a fighter sized vessel.

So if you were the ISA and you needed to sneak around or send something via courier, it'd be the way to do it.

Here we have a game balance problem;

The series of Babylon 5 runs from the 2240s to the 2280s, so there will eventually be fighters that outclass anything made before them.

However, such advancement often progresses in waves.

To start, you have your first-generation interceptor, bomber, heavy and medium fighters. As the game progresses, Side A should have many weapons upgrades to keep these competitive with the newer generation of side B, until eventually the newer gen of side A fighters is released, which immediately outclasses anything side b has. This then switches and repeats throughout the various campaigns.

In theory, you maintain balance like this, even if your new generation is something like Aurora Starfury refit B, or Nial upgrade C. This can be completed with a minimum of canon disruption, as it is safe to assume that the races would not use half-century old weapons and engines.

Just something to think about.

My bet is as follows;

I know that generally in B5 the race's technologies approaches parity (e.g. EA catching up to Minbari in many ways) over time but in addition, each advance seems to be relatively minor in that (vastly) older ships are still in service. Each advance is more a step on the ladder rather than a leap to a new plateau. Granted, eventually older ships become obsolete but this game is set over a 40 year period, so just don't use some of the older ships in newer missions
