-- Trying to make a new Minbari ship! (https://volitionwatch.game-warden.com/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=4764)
Hey, I got an idea.
We could make the Whitestar(or any other ship with "shields") really have shields, that are less than 1 meter away from its surface and the hit effect is invisible. Then make these shields quite weak, but they charge really fast.
Now the shield would make every single weapon hit do less damage, and completely stop the weakest shots.
What do you think, I'd try it myself but I don't know how to make shield meshes.
I don't know, WS, BS and several other fighters are the only ships with bio-armor that are not cap ships. FS2 crashes far too often if cap ships have shields.

Well, nice to come with new ship designs, but futile if there is no one to make a campaign with them.
So, concentrate on more elementary issues at the moment.
Greetings , Skullar ( the man who took out a Tinashi in his starfury )
P.S.
Hehe , I replayed the campaign yesterday , and I have to say the story is really ..."für den Arsch" as we germans say.
IceFire , I talked to tomcat and he was afraid you could once again write a pitiful 5-mission script.....
Somehow the Earth-Minbari War is a difficult thing to make a campaign for....

Battlecrab is not done yet, final tweaking and balancing will be done after the ship is actually done. So, for now it is unknown if crab is a bomber or cap ship.

Only the god of war, Tyr, dared to feed and take care of the wolf.
It is a Minbari ship the Minbari just found a um... Vorlon Dreadnought in hyperspace! Ya and there was no crew on it so they took it back to Minbar and used it's tech on there new ship..
Galen
1 problem with that story: A Vorlon dreadnought doesn't need a crew to defend it self, as far as I know

Another problem with that story: Why would Vorlons leave their ships just floating around?
Maybe it's fun to see as younger races race to the hulk like vultures to scavenge all the tech they can. And then blow each others to pices...
shield mechanics
The White Star shares two defensive tech elements with Vorlon vessels:
bio-adaptive armor: specific types of damage can be 'learned' and protected against more effectively, essentially increasing the amount of armor against some attacks, and
electro-magnetic shielding: weak EM shields tend to deflect incoming shots, as well as reducing their damage by a small degree. The net effect is perhaps a 5-10% reduction in hit probability, as well as absorbing a small amount of damage (perhaps equal to an average-damage shot from a Raider Dorito, say).
Together, these systems make it possible for a White Star to become much more effective against an enemy that depends on a single type of weapon (now, who do we know who uses only one kind of weapon, class? anyone? anyone? Mr. Morden, I see your hand is up... ^_^).
Vorlons, of course, can make themselves damn near impervious to a given class of damage - in some cases, it's physically impossible for a Starfury to even damage them. (Of course, that leaves them less defended against, say, the heavy guns on that Omega back there, but hey...)
