Screw me? No thanks. I'd prefer not to.

As for Wolf's Shipyards, if you have a problem with it, how difficult is it to say "I don't like WS for XYZ reasons" as opposed to just being vulgar? Whatever happened to the famous Kazan "geekspeak" ?

Oh right. It's not difficult at all. I mean - look how many times people like IceFire have had to respond to "When's it going to be out yet?!?!" ... they're polite about it 99% of the time. It's NOT hard.

Or just don't reply at all. It works for me.

why is Wolf's shipyards not good then? offcourse, there are models there that are just plain ugly, but there are some nice models on that site too...

They have some good models and many not so good. I think many objections actually come from the lack of a three-dimensional mesh and not at the design itself. Also, the texturing on the ships could be improved although this is not necessary as they are only concept designs for the most part.

side note - Nova alpha

According to AoG's Dilgar Invasion pack, the EA also fielded the Nova Alpha during the war against the Dilgar - this was not dissimilar to the 'show-era' Nova, except that it mounted only medium laser cannon, instead of the more advanced laser/pulse arrays on the newer Beta model (net effect: the Beta has the option to fire all 17 of its massive gun batteries in pulse mode, which has slightly worse range, slightly higher damage potential overall, and cycles faster than laser mode).

Also, the Hyperions, like all EA ships in the Bablyon 5 Wars sources, have 'lettered' rather than named variants, e.g., 'Hyperion Alpha' is the woefully underpowered Hyperion in service at the time of the Dilgar War, 'Hyperion Theta' is the variant in service twenty years later during the show. The reason there are so many Hyperion variants is that the class was used as a 'testbed' for new and/or captured technologies (so there's a missile Hyperion, railgun Hyperion, pulse-cannon Hyperion, etc. out there in small numbers), as well as the workhorse hull which saw many variants for specialized missions (Hyperion-Gamma is an assault variant which carries assault shuttles and breaching pods, there's an AEGIS Hyperion with experimental anti-fighter sensor pods, a command variant, etc.). Most hulls have at least one or two variant types, even if the 'variant' would really more properly be called a 'refit', e.g., Nova-Alpha -> Nova-Beta involves improving some stats all around and replacing the weapon mounts with the newest version, but it's not like it changed from a dreadnought to a minesweeper or anything.

I suppose you could handwave the 'Roosevelt', 'Midwinter', etc., by saying that each variant bears the name of the first vessel in its type as an unofficial moniker, e.g., the EAS Roosevelt was maybe the first Hyperion class, the EAS Midwinter was the first Hyperion-Theta to float out of the yards, etc.

Sorry for the long post - I'm a longtime B5W player, and while I certainly do not expect this excellent Freespace mod to be 'B5W for the PC', I do think the B5W source materials present a rich set of background and ideas.

Keep up the excellent work!

There is nothing wrong with the drawings, they are quite well done and very much to scale.

My problem is with the concepts. A good number of the ships there are based on the bigger is better concept. I don't know how many varients of Omega, Nova, and Warlock that are on there that are bigger and bigger and have more guns in more locations until you finally reach some huge Explorer Warlock hybrid thats just massive.

How about the Warlock battleship. Its a Warlock with a stretched out hull and guns everywhere.

I give the guys alot of credit for their detailed drawings of the canon ships as well as the AoG ships and pretty much everything. That is definately impressive. I'm pretty sure that most are to scale as well so there is something to be said there as well.

My problem is just with the rediculous concepts. Even then, the concepts are definately for fun and entertainment so my real beef is when people take them as "realistic" in the B5 universe sense of the word.

All fanboys make bigger and better. Look at pretty much ever last FS2 campaign out there. What do they feature? Why, Bigger and Better spaceships!

The art's cool, some of the ships are just overdone tho.
