I just watched it carefully - both times a beam was shot, the Centauri ship was taking the hit - hence, the Narn fired beams twice, the Centauri ship used nothing but pulse cannons.

No beam weapons for Centauri please. From the show it appears that they have specialized in pulse/plasma/ion sort of weapons... stronger than beam weapons of races like narn, drazi and maybe EA...
So I vote no beam weapons for any centauri ships, and I agree with Ghost Rider 100%.
You go girlfreind

I agree. No beams please. Even in season 5 when the evidence piled up on the centauri Franklin talked about the weapons used and described them is sort of projectile weapons unique to the centauri. We never see beams used by them in the show and their weapons are powerful enough. So once again please no beams.

My powers detect a gathering of force
Seriously I think that the Primus should be pulse only, with perhaps a later variant with beams, same goes for the Nova.

I suggest we don't use beams weapons on Primuses.
Secundus should have two heavy beams and mass-driver but perhaps less anti-fighter weapons.
Octurion should have the best technology of the Centauri, so lots of beams and pulses but no mass-driver.

Pretty much all of the resources we have say that the Centauri do have beam weapons. It makes no sense that the Narn would steal beam weapons off the Centauri and the Centauri not use them at all.
Both the Primus and Octurion are suppposed to have Battle Lasers (the latter having an even larger and meaner beam) and while they don't fire all that often, I imagine they are very useful. We can make the Centauri pulse centric, thats not a problem.

I agree with Icefire.

Perhaps IceFire the Narn did not steal beam weapons from the Centauri. We know that the Narns acquired and used Centauri technology to drive them out of Narn and to open the door to them into space. But nowhere does it say exactly what the Narns stole, perhaps beam technology was discovered later by experimenting with the Centauri tech. The Narns could have discovered a way to use Centauri weaponry that they themselves never thought of, or perhaps the Narn acquired the tech for beams from somewhere in the League and then learned to make it even more powerful than what was originally sold to them.
No Centauri ship has ever been seen firing any kind of beam weaponry anywhere from series to movies. It is safe to assume they do not have it, in spite of what internet tech manuals and AoG says. I feel the Centauri should remain as they have been seen, firing pulse weaponry only. As I said, no one is really sure when the Narns developed beam weaponry or from what tech they did it, we are only assuming Centauri tech because it said in the series they had based their tech on stolen Centauri tech. What I believe is that the Narn based their origins for their tech on the Centauri tech they stole and later acquired different sources of techs for other things they have developed. Not every single Narn tech will be derived from Centauri tech it's impossible, they must have tech they acqiuired from arms deals and even stuff they discovered on their own.

Or it's not like the Centauri didn't have any beam weapon tech. They're quite technoligically advanced after all. BUT they probably simply don't use them, their pulse cannons are more powerful that lasers.
The Primus isn't a very good example, as it is an old ship. It was mentioned that the Centauri used it to build their empire, and that happended in about 2150. In "and now for a word" it fired 5-6 bursts at the station before actually hitting anything, and when B5 opened fire almost every shot was a hit.
But take the Vorchan, it's half the size of a Q'quan, and can easily kick its ass. In ITB it took out a Q'Quan with a single burst. And in "acts of sacrifice" two Vorchans took out a Q'Quan in seconds.
Wait ... I remember hearing on here somewhere that the Narn beam cannon were "primitive" (although don't quote me on that one) and if so, it'd make sense that they never stole beam tech from the Centauri; the Centauri didn't use them. Instead, they started building their own beam tech from scratch...

Actually "In the Beginning" when Vorchan shot G'Quan into pieces was a CGI error. It should have been a Primus, not Vorchan.

Where I did hear it from? A very good question, it was about six months ago... lemme thing... ahh dunno.
It is a rumor, but it is said that someone from the CGI team said that it should have been Primus, not Vorchan. I don't know if it is true or not, but I remember it sounded quite trustworthy for being a rumor...

Ok here me on this one since this is like it IS.
Primius will have the 4 beam canon (battle laser) ..the situation remain at the latitude of the missions creator to use them.
it has also medium 8 twin arrays(pulse like weapons)
secundus (8 heavy twin arrays) and one mass driver.
