You don't "get" code and you don't "crack" code either.

Icefire's right. Interplay (like most software companies) read MOD forums under anonymous usernames, on the offchance that somebody tries to 'hack' the software.
It's easy to say, "yeah, let's crack the sourcecode", when later on there will be a whole lot of hassle, fines and embarrasment.

in a call to arms, it is NOT a jump point, watch again and hear what they call it.
damd children, don't even watch B5 with sound anymore..........mutter........... rant.............Fish dance
Yes they say "jump to hyperspace". Thats a JUMP POINT.
You're probably thinking about the null field, which we never did see from the side angle and was never part of the discussion.

the jump points only seam flat.
Trust me, they are cone shaped.... with a lip around the edge, thats all you can see from the side, they don't even show up from behind.
Trust me, I anit a lawer
They are cone shaped, but that cone extends into hyperspace, not into realspace so from the side the jump point appears to be flat. From the front the jump point has depth though.
An interesting point - assuming hyperspace were real - if a jump point was to be opened, wouldn't it be spherical in realspace-time but appear to be cone-shaped in terms of depth from any particular point of view?

Yes, ummm...
I'd like to see anyone try to model that in Freespace

No, but he has a better grasp of how things work in the world than many people posting in this thread.

While I'm not so sure Interplay has guys who cruise forums to see if people 'cracked' the source code, I'm sure they'd find out, sooner or later, if it happened. And I imagine the results would be ... less than pretty.
Not to mention, I've never heard of someone "cracking the source code" ... I mean, umm, is that even possible?

I know how to crack the source code. it is a rather lengthy process.
(1) Figure out what code it is you're cracking (I.E. sound graphics etc.)
(2) Find out what section of the source code you need to have and do something usefull with it. (like highlighting.)
(3) copy the highlighted section.
(4) If you have a CD burner skip to step 6 if not. go to step five.
(5) buy a CD Burner.
(6) if you already have burnable CDs skip to step 8. if not see step 7
(7) buy ready to burn CDs.
(8) burn the coode(s)
you need to crack.
(9) atatch a rock to the CD(s)
(10) Drop CD(s) of an extremly tall building. (like say the Sears Tower)
