Typo... meant the Claymore Mk.III

Although the mk.II could probably do with a remap if i could be bothered....

Will the thunderbolt have the fold-outable wing like in the show?

Posted by Drahkas on 10-25-2001 04:40 AM:

they most likely wouldn't be able to get it to "fold-out" in the FS2 engine

Do you see any FreeSpace 2 ships that have controllable sections that move?

I didn't.

I think it looks pretty good, foldout wings or not. And that's just the WIP, not the completed thing.

I think that it looks cool, can't see anything wrong with it.

BTW, in the process of designing a ship from scratch to in the game (e.g. A fighter) what are all of the different stages and roughly how long do each of them take, assuming no major problems?

For me;

- modelling in Blender (main model, thrusters, debris)
(don't say anything Kazan!)
- conversion to obj, opened up with UVMapper
- create & manipulate UV with UVMapper, save texture files
- add data for mtl file to obj header (Eth taught me this)
- Edit textures in PSP7.2 - create smaller (1/2 size) ones for lower LODs
- convert obj to cob, load up in TS5.0
- load & texture thrusters, debris
- use vertex welding to poly reduce for LODs, replace maps with appropriate smaller ones
- create shield
- do gluing sequence & save
- convert with PCS
- add pof data (dockpoint, paths, eyepoints, thruster glows, gunpoints, etc)
- create tbl file for ship
- create shield, (optional - for player flyable) interface and loadout stuff
- add entry to HUD.tbl, and play!

Normally takes me about 1-2 weeks to do this, depending on real life workload, and how motivated i am.

What would you suggest instead?
That Truespace thing's way too expensive!

Posted by Alphakiller on 10-27-2001 01:39 AM:

Kazan, cram it, okay? He puts out good stuff with Blender. Soooooooooo, deal with it.
