i suppose the only way any of us r going to get the thunderbolt is if someone creates a non dev team version. if not we will just have to wait.but at least we have loads of single player missions to look forward to.

Let me add a short thing...

The TBP modmakers are Babylon 5 fans...
I am a Babylon 5 fan...
But the fans I meant are TBP mod fans! Yes TBP team, not only Bab5 has fans, you have, too! And I'm one of them! That's what I meant...

PS: I'm all right again... Your next release will surely be as great as the first is/was! So good luck for the futury and as few bugs as possible to you!
It's just that I don't know what my life will be like in 1/2 a year... I simply wish there would be more of TBP before I go to university because I have so much free time I could spend with it right now. I'm nervous because I just send in my works for the art test that I have to pass first... and if they accept, I'm going to do additional tests in two weeks. So much is gonna happen, that's all.

I remember waiting for B5wars to come out. It was a year late and incredably buggy. Then a year later they released 2nd edition which was alot better. Most people who have played B5wars have never seen a 1st edition book...

I totally agree with Assassin. The team have shown that by waiting untill things are ready and in larger chunks you will get a more complete experience. And a more bug-less experience!
I'd rather have a longer spell of waiting than dribs and drabs of updates that will spoil the feeling of "This is a new game". It's like knowing the storyline before you watch the film.

I think the team have definatly made the right choice in this.

It is the teams Mod and I completely respect and abide by their decisions. For me personally though, I must say I'd like to see ships released before the next official release. Why you may ask. Here's why. The first relase 5 missions long took about two years to make and release (not a criticizm at all just what I have understood). Next release may take 6-8 months I heard. That would be more than half a year for another mini-campaign, the T-Bolt and the Omega (forgive me that I'm leaving out other ships you will release in this next one but I don't know which ones they are, I asked and was told it was somewhere on the board but I can't find it). Then what another half year for another mini-campaign or a year or two before the real TC?

Now fellas I completely understand you want to save up your work to create the anticipation of the next releases and so you feel you are making a genuine worthy product which believe me you are. Since I downloaded the Mod I have finished the mini-campaign 4 times. I am currently downloading the single missions made by players. There are only so many times you can play the same mini-campaign within 6-8 months and there is only so many missions that can be created with the current models available. The only reason I wish models be released in such a manner is so that more variety of single missions can be made before the actual next mini-campaign. Believe me you can release every single model you make as it becomes available and everyone will still download the mini-campaigns when they are finished. Lets face it Freespace 2 takes up a lot of space, a whole lot, and many time while I'm waiting for a mod to come out and the months start to pass and nothing more than a screenshot here and there I lose interest and either get another mod for the game or unistall it all completely. I am not saying any of this to try to change your minds about your decision of not releasing the models but I'm being completely honest which I feel I can do here. I do respect your decision and eagerly await news of further development for your next release.

Tbp main campaign will be about 30 missions long and thats not mini campaign. I don't know which one it will be. Next one? Maybe last? Dev team...anyone

Posted by White-SF on 10-22-2001 01:16 PM:

@Ghost Rider:

I wish I had written this... I feel exactly the same!

Although the TBP people do what they think is the best for the further development of this great mod, some things simply have to be said... It's so much fun to play the user created missions and it would be so much more, if we had a little more of a variety of ships.

Well, let's see what will happen in the future...

Posted by Triggy on 10-22-2001 01:34 PM:

Ditto here.

One possibility is that instead of sporadic releases of ships or the release of a complete, updated package including a compaign and engine tweaks is to release a pack of each races ships as they are completed, giving people the possibility of producing their own missions.

Me personally, I can't wait 'til I create missions based on 'Severed Dreams', 'No Surrender No Retreat' and 'Between the Darkness and the Light'

Ghost Rider, you have a valuable point. If the next release is 6-8 months, then will the next release be another 6-8 months? Well, not exactly.

The number of ships we have to do for the second release is fairly large. The number of fixes and stuff we learned on the first release is fairly large too. So second release will not only encompass new ships from Earth and the Minbari, it will contain full LOD, full debris and destroyed subobjects for all of the models. So this is why it will take quite a while to get it right with these models. There is also quite a few more Earth ships than there are of any other species.

The Narn and Centauri pack will probably have less ships in it than the Second Release. The Non-Aligned one will have fewer, and so on. The Shadow and Vorlon release will probably have the fewest (a fighter, a medium ship or two, and a large and very large ship).

So some packs are going to take more time. Some will be very short and if the models are already half finished when we really start on those packs....then the missions can already be done and the development time would be shorter.

So thats the scoop as I see things. I have no clue how long Second Release will take, but it will be longer than some of the others.

@IceFire:

If all this is true what you are saying, and I think it has to be because it's you saying it, it would be great! You have just taken some fear off me... Thanks for that!

Exclamation

Next relese will be like ICE said ... BUT this does not means that the patch woun't come out

any way ..Is not fun to have only one campagne ..people can make their own campaign that should include voice debriefing etc..
