Yo antony where are you?? come out... come out... wherever you are..
This your oportunity of glory man. Were all here to see it.
Dont worry if it aint finished.
You might have scared him away
. I saw him at I've found her's forum.
yeah, I am possibly the only (?) mod member to actually use 3DSMAX.
Several difficult things that you need to know -
Unfortunately.... You can't convert straght from MAX to Freespace 2. If volition release their converter or someone makes a converter for PCS, then *maybe*... but at the moment, you can't. Period.
So - you need a copy of Truespace 4, the programme that PCS - the best POF maker (and therefore the one we use) - interfaces with.
Unfortunately.... TS4 can't import 3DS files stably (not stably enough for the mod anyway), or MAX files at all... so unless you can get hold of a converter that can manage it - I thus far haven't found one (not even 3DE works) - so you need to import your file as a DXF...
Unfortunately.... DXFs have no texture information so the texturing **has to be applied in Truespace**. Programmes like lithunwrap may help you apply texturing, and check out the texturing tutorial too.
Fortunately.... Truespace has support for multi-sided polygons, so any co-planar triangles can be created to quads (or greater) by selecting the bisecting edge in edge select mode and pressing the *delete points* button. These MUST be co-planar, otherwise the resulting unflat polygons will cause texture warping problems.
If you need any more info, contact me.
