I've talked about this with a couple of friends. And what I come up with is I think we should pull a 'Japan' on Afganistan. Y'know, post-WWII reconstruction Japan. After they've lost the will to fight, we set up a... well there's no easy way to say it, a puppet government.

I hafta agree with OSC too. What I really think would be a good idea is a full reconstruction (? Construction?) of the Middle East, Afghanistan, Africa, etc. By improving the lot of everyone, terrorist threats are reduced. Churchill called postwar Europe "the breeding ground of hate" in its state, after all.

Oh, and to clarify my overlong and pretentious post earlier, I do think that whoever did this should be shot into the sun, or have to endure some of the more long-winded tortures available (Chinese water torture perhaps? Maybe this is where China can help in an international response? ) I don't think that innocent people should suffer any more because of them. So thank you George, for nicely condensing what I meant too.

Go after the Taliban and Osama, if they did it, by all means. The one good thing to come out of this could be the end of the evil Taliban regime. We can only hope.

Innocents always get in the way sometimes, but I think if the targets are those who directly oppose a move to eliminate terrorism then I think the rest of the world can rest with good conscience when its alll over that they did their best to only hurt those involved and those harboring and supporting terrorism.

second, i think we should get osama bin laden and just toss him into one of our brand new "SuperMax" prisons. solitary confinement 23 hours a day.

Guys, I sent an email to Snipes when the attack occurred, but I haven't gotten a response yet. However, I do know that he is in the process of moving from NY to FLA, and his last post on the HLPBB was on the 2nd (I think), not the 11th or 10th or whatever. So while I would be as gratefull as any of you to see him post something again, I don't think that it's a cause for serious worry. He's probably unpacking as we speak.

However, if hs silence does go on for much longer, I will post his real name for everyone to look through the.... umm, lists.

But yes, let us pray.

Snipes posted on the HLPBB a while ago that he was from Central Islip, Long Island - which is 45 miles from NYC. And he said here that he was going to be out of contact for a month during his move... Hopefully, we'll hear from him soon.

In addition to these, the rest of the population of this unmatchable planet call earth, including the non military U.S. citizens must be ready to suffer a lot of terrorist attacks, because that is the only way that those H.D.P. (Inicials for Motherfu...ers in Spanish) can do significant harm, don't believe that We are all indestructible, and then think if you realy want that....... I did, and I do want the terrorists to be eliminated from the face of the earth, so go ahead, and good luck. Unluckily, Argentinian military forces are insignificant and we can only assist during the engagement......

I don't know if you are interested but the brother of my best friend works in Manhattan and was very close to the towers that day, as always, but luckily he is ok.

Nuclear warfare is definately not the answer. I really never was. Conventional warfare may not be the answer either. So really it comes downto highly specialized intelligence and special ops teams.

The rest of the military is there to provide what brute and outright force is needed and for home guard. There is a new military operation in effect. Operation Noble Eagle...homeland defence of the United States and is no doubt a joint effort with Canadian forces.

So, I'm thinking less and less that the United States is going to do something rash and illconcieved.

The kicker is, if nothing is done, they will strike again, if something is done people will die. The end result can only be favorable with the least number of people losing their lives. Sad isn't it.

such an event will cause total destruction in an area 100 yards wide by 1-mile long.

I believe that it is very important that we stop and think about how far we want to go, here. I don't see this escalating into nuclear war, but how many people are we willing to send off to get themselves killed so we can have our revenge? Something like this simply is not worth starting a war over. Very few things really are.

At what point would you say enough!? If the destruction of 5,000 innocent people isn't enough for us to fight a war against terrorism, what is? Hey, before all of you peace lovers start your bawling, lets get one thing straight, these ANIMALS hijacked 4 PASSENGER aircraft that were headed to california so that the y would get a plane that was FULLY LOADED WITH FUEL, they then PUORPESLY FLEW THEM IN TO 2 110 STORY (please don't correct me on the number of floors, i am close enough) BUILDINGS AND THE PENTAGON.

these animals are doing this to get our attention, and if we try to ignore them, they will something even more horrific.

I think those responsible should pay for what they have done. But at the same time I think USA should take it slow, take some deep breaths, take some time to get good evidence before they attack.
