Exclamation

I was amazed at how the EA is still using Hyperion heavy cruisers in 2281. It's been in service for what now? Fourty, fifty years? I wonder what kind of upgrades and modifications they've made to the Hyperion design since we last saw it (either Endgame in 2261 or A Call to Arms in 226-), if any.

We actually saw it in the very last episode sleeping in light, just before the station was destroyed

Actualy in the futere the trend is fighters and ships designs last longer. An analogy of this is that during WWI a plane that was 2 years old was obsolete, today it takes about 30 years before a design is scraped. Looka at the F-16, F-15, F-14, F-18, some designs last even longer like the Mig-21 its almost 50 years since it was designed, it has been upgraded so many times that only the external apearance was maintained. Specialists in the military logistics suggests that some countries are too poor to buy a new plane and will continue to use it by the time its reaches 70 years old! (I took this from specialized press) The F-16 was flown for the first time in 1974 and will be retired in the US at about 2015, 41 years later!! The same goes for large military ships like the Carrier USS Enterprise its 40 years as well.

not to mention the B-52 bomber

Newer designs are much different than the older ones as well. Since its way too expensive to develop a group of planes, they are being combined into one package.

F-22 - Takes over the role of the F-15 and the F-16. This is about as specialized as they come.
JSF - Takes over the roles of the Harrier, F/A-18, A-10, and F-16 for three different services (Navy, Marine Corps, AirForce)
Eurofighter - Many roles combined into one. An all weather strike fighter, a air superiority fighter. Developed by multiple countries

Thats not even touching what the Navy is doing.

Count yourselves LUCKY that you even got to see the finale. I, a once serious B5 fan, lost the series when they switched to cable. Never did see the end of the civil war, or anything else. SUCKED bigtime, let me tell you.

I pray that the new B5 DVD series will have the whole series, unedited. I'll BUY the whole damn series if I have to.

You guys were very fortunate, seeing the whole thing at least.

Posted by Xaphod_x on 11-10-2001 06:20 PM:

Well, people were talking about how the last ep. of B5 made them cry, and how it was the only TV programme to do so.

To be honest.. I've never cried at TV programmes till the news recently.

That is the singularly most inappropriate reply I've ever heard. Well done Edwin. You've excelled yourself.

I haven't ever cryed because of a television show but I must admit that while watching this show I came the closest I ever have to crying.

Yes, I'll admit too, SIL got me close to tears also. Was so sad that such a great story and show was going.

Back over to the last episode trivia, did anyone else notice the back-wards Primus battle cruiser and Sentri(sp) fighters in the honor guard line? Had to look twice to make sure such a mistake was actually happening.

Just above the Sharlin on the left.

Edit- Added pic.

I cried. I watch the episode back on video a few months later with my girlfriend. She cried. She doesn't even like B5. Sleeping in Light is just nasty .
