Hm, Red Faction has vehicle support, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to leave an Apollo resting somewhere near the player and let him try to fly it...

Huh? You mean the Science Vessel right? What I meant was that it would be cool for there to be a dual engine game that a pilot has to go on the ground to do stuff

It might be fun to do it once, but I would rather kill Vasudans, or Shivans.. I don't want to turn it into a "FS3" but platform/trains/apc/ground vehicles would be great in the game, no ships.

you want space-sim action with the RF engine? make a wide-open space, set gravity to zero. there you go.

Do you have any idea how long such an engine would take to program? Something that will probably end up not working right because your using Microsoft Windows as your platform. Can you imagine the system requirements needed just to write and compile this engine?

However unrealistic this sounds i do agree that would be cool

:ahem: Project IGI used a flight-sim engine. So actually it can be done.

and Descent3 uses two different engines for interior and exterior, the transition is perfect, flawless, you can see both exterior and interior at the same time, I wonder how the hell they did that btw.

Probably the same way Tribes had its indoor/outdoor engine. And like I said already...Project IGI.

In my opinion at least, the FS in the title almost makes flying a ship at least once a surety, or at least it should do. That is essentially what FS is about, and I know this is not the same game, or even the same engine, but it is the same concept.

It's the same universe, which is different from same "concept." The same concept is "FS3 = a space sim game" whereas the same universe could be the difference between Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Rebellion.

See what I mean?

Actually some members of the CS team are involved with Condition Zero or whatever that thing is called.
So yes, they were a bunch of amateurs, who are now getting paid to develop.
