Posted by Drahkas on 08-06-2001 07:03 PM:

the game was over a gig... i don't think they would make a mod that big...

Why does everyone with a modem always whine about: How big will it be? It's too big for my modem!

Hey! I've been there... I used to download 100Mb files with 56kps modem every week... And it was burning usually after that But you just need some patience to download the Files... Go watch a movie or something when it's downloading it... That's what I would do.

i used to do that! but now i just sit back and let my modem d/l at over 300k/s.

My Oh My! Its not going to be as big as a CD for goodness sakes.

Models and textures and effects are going to be 20mb max most likely. Music will be close to 40...and sound effects probably 10.

That may equal a fair amount of downloading on a 56k...but you can do it in parts and pieces.

The campaign will be a separate download all to itself.

How many missions will there be in this first campaign?

I hope users create alot of missions. Latley there hasn't really been any good mission making going on. Everyone is so into making models, but no one seems to want to make missions anymore.

5 demo missions...each pack will probably have a mini-campaign or a set of individual missions to highlite the new ships in the pack.

I was being sarcastic when I mentioned the DVDs....

but yeah, we can always keep adding more and make new bits "plug into" the mod.

... then you are maybe going to like this what I'm announcing here (notice the word maybe)

James Moores' Operation Avatar campaign has gone to beta-testing atleast as soon as I get the campaign file done. I don't expect much bugs in the campaign because Mr. Moores has played the missions through probably more than once.

Nope, I won't give you the exact date of release but it will be released as soon as we are happy with it... this campaign is related to original Freespace 2 and has nothing to do with this mod, m'kay?

Just don't get disappointed on the campaign when you start it. The beginning is just not what you saw in Derelict or in Warzone (hi IceFire ) The first four missions were on the demo and everyone said that it just sucked a** so don't judge the campaign by that...

Well... when it's done, I'll notify everyone. And then I will get my ass working for TBP fulltime.
