Try watching "Thirdspace", there they have to reform the gate for the 'dimension gate' or whatever it is to fit in. Altering the particle effect is quite easy
: just create the ani file, name it and use. I believe there was a table for those... At least in weapons.tbl there is a damage ani for every weapon.

No, your quite right, guns can have varrying impact explosions.
I think its a little much for a standard fighter gun to do such a thing, but the Badgers pulse cannons and several of the capital ship weapons will have impact animations. Some we'll probably refine later.

i think the number of impact explosions is limited to about 4 total or is it 3 i cant rmeember - unless that can be changed in another table other than the explosions table

Well I have to agree that it is perhaps a little 'large'... But it's better than not having damage effect at all. And when the ship is moving it doesn't look bad at all...
Organic ships (Vorlons&Shadows) would maybe be better without it...

i don't know if this can be done, but it don't look right seeing a flare and sparks coming of a shadow ship when its hit.
So is it possible to change the particle ani when any weapon hits a certain ship?
