Hmmm

wait a sec.... is that "Minbari Orbital Platform" mean an Orbital Base? or more like a Sentry gun (like the watchdog in Freespace) I think that it is not really a base, but actually just a space turret, that explains the lack of weaponry, the multi cluster of them, and the fixed turret possition(I assume it can turn on its axis) I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think the model we're looking at was designed for just a sentry gun, and not a 1KM base.

The Minbari base, as far as I can gather from their technology, would most likely be "tall" Triad shaped when saw from above, Maybe kinda like three sharlins conveging on themselves? I know it wouldn't be round like this, because they have artificial gravity, and none of their other ships, places where their race are inside, have rounded shape? I am starting to babble.

I still stand by my assumption that this "Orbital Platform" is an orbital defense mechanism, and not a port or space station.

As for the design, it's nothing to do with me - as I said, it's taken from the ITF website.. as for the size, well that's up to the bosses and discussion on the internal forum.
Hmm.. when do I get let into the internal forum anyway?

Now working on smoothing out the shape.

Just a thought though - with respect firepower and those prongs being big beam turrets.

Even if its just meant for engaging capships, I think some other weaponry would be a good idea. Also, I'm thinking those turrets would need to cover quite a large angle, otherwise the station would be a sitting duck for an attack from the side.. I know it'd make sense just to have the station rotate, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Oh well, I'll just let whoever deals with the model after me deal with that I guess.

The Novas could all just set for ramming speed and crash into the thing. EA ships seem so good for that.

Correction: the question is if ANY of the novas would be left alive.
Maybe an omega would a better choice due to its beams. Still...

300m? That can't be right. Can it?

Posted by Xaphod_x on 07-30-2001 03:06 PM:

meaning its a gun turret. Okay then. I think I may have to reduce the number of polygons a smidgeon.

We could take a bit of creative license and make it bigger. We've never seen one in the series before anyways.

Perhaps something up for debate? Guys?

Minbari space stations

The Minbari have a Large Deep Space Station that was showed in the episode "War Without End Part 1" when Delenn talk about the last Shadow War in the Whitestar and shows a video of a fleet of Shadow Battle-crabs destroying the station.

I don't think it should be very big it's only meant to be a weaker cousin of that one you just mentioned isn't it?

wel that one was the hq of the minbari-vorlon alliance in the last shadow war, so it would it have to big, coz its so important. Anyway that was 1000 years ago, so it would be much different now.

Well thats what i think

Posted by IceFire on 07-31-2001 03:29 PM:

Wouldn't necessarilly have to be too different. Minbari ships don't seem to change very much.

We'll have the big installation as well as the smaller one. We're just deciding on sizes.
