Hmmm... interesting topic.

I believe that the shivans don't have any sort of installation... they are said to be exiles like us, right? Sooo... maybe they can contact with their homworld via comm nodes, they can jump from their dimension to ours, but they can't jump back to their's... they could build their ships in their dimension, and then bring them to ours... and why do they want to send more and more ships to our dimension? Because they are the cosmic destroyers, the avengers of the universe, its white globs and they must kill anything out of nature... us, for example...

They just have their "umpenetrable" dimension, just to remain safe, and therefore, reproduce themselves so that they can continue their task for the infinite...

That's my idea... feedback!

Nothing states that the Shivans are truly from an alternate dimension, and Petrarch's mention of that is a personal speech to the crew as opposed to scientific fact based on his opinions of the events.

That gives me an idea... maybe the shivans found out that capella was starting to open up a series of jumpnodes... maybe one of them lead to a race move powerful than the shivans, so they needed to block off the node.

Therefor they went into the Capella system recklessly and immediately tried to destroy the star before the node could fully form.

Actually, it would make more sense that the Shivans were launching to attack this new enemy....

Whatever happened at Capella, the obvious conclusion is that it was important to the Shivans.

Can I ask a simple question? Why is it that the shivans stopped using scorpion fighters, and lucifers? I doubt that there was only 1 lucifer... and I doubt that the lucifer evolved from a demon...

Can someone else try to think of a different kind of alien? The Shivans might not be a standard species just bent on destruction. Did our primitive ancestors understand what was rain and lightning? They just knew that sometimes it helped them, sometimes it was against them. And the only thing we know about the Shivans is that they're against us - now.

They may not be a simple alien race, not an usual enemy. They are much probably an elemental force of the universe (as water, fire, earth and air were considered here on Earth), that we cannot - yet - fully understand, much less oppose. They don't care about their losses. They don't care about us. They just care about their original objective, and we don't know what that is yet.

During The Great War, we were the target for sure. They specifically went after Vasuda Prime and then after Earth. They did it very quickly and very methodically.

In FS2, the GTVA had adapted technology to deal with the threat of a Shivan invasion so things were a little different and the battles were fought more on Shivan terms, but when it all came down to it, the SHivans weren't really interested in us.

The first Sathanas just blasted its way to Capella and left alot of GTVA ships behind.
