But seriously. If you managed to disable the beam on the Golgotha, wouldn't the ship be rather useless?

Posted by Mr Carrot on 02-05-2001 09:59 PM:

you still have all the other beams, you just have an oversized orion on your hands.

Posted by Snipes on 02-05-2001 11:52 PM:

So it is worthless!

Posted by IceFire on 02-06-2001 01:44 AM:

The Golgotha is a roughly even match for the Orion when not using its primary beam cannon. Yes, this is a significant weakness, but I should stress that the MODs in BlackWater Operations will be balanced to the best of our abilities and this is one of those things that is balanced.

Posted by Snipes on 02-06-2001 02:16 AM:

I like Balanced Mods. there should be no ship the size of the Aeolus, that has nothing but BGreen. (Like my GTCv Domino</pimp> )

The more balanced the better, for the feel of realism that it gives!

I will be on Sol's side as they will have built this huge, giant, massive, BIG cannon (which will make the golgotha look like an Aten class) because they were really really scared that the shivans would return and wipe them out.

trying to kill someone on the other side on the planet is hard. Trust me slanker, there is someone on the other side of the contry i want dead

the sides in blackwater ops are about as well defined as the old Hero/Antihero thing like spawn for example whether he is evil or not really depends on your perspective.

So i Read Stephen King a fair bit! I guess reading has somthing to do with my deductive reasoning of what little there is of it

Posted by Turnsky on 02-06-2001 11:26 AM:

I don't know what the ending but i hope its not gonna be an anticlimax. Personally, i don't think there is any danger of that occurring

Posted by Mr Carrot on 02-06-2001 04:37 PM:

GTVA a ok, comeone theyve done really well without sol or vasuda prime bullying sol into the gtva would be good for them. :P

Posted by Jabu on 02-06-2001 05:00 PM:

We'll see...

Posted by Snipes on 02-06-2001 08:54 PM:

Yep... see we will....

Posted by IceFire on 02-06-2001 09:20 PM:

George, you've got us confused with Machina Terra. Sol has a big gun there, in BWO things are a little different. Infact, Styxx and myself correspond alot to ensure that BWO and MT are totally different experiences despite the similar concept. I can say that they are going to be quite quite different.

As for sides in BWO...there are "two sides"....but who is on whose side is a little less defined and when you throw in elements of deception and the like, things get even more confusing. It'll be enjoyable I hope and I think our climaxes will not be anit-climatic..thats my hope.

Posted by Snipes on 02-06-2001 10:08 PM:

WTF do you mean by Anti-climatic?

And confusing... hehe

I thin khe's gonna have a return of the NTF as soon as the corridor is open, who will try to conquer earth...

Posted by IceFire on 02-07-2001 04:53 AM:

I can't think of a good anti-climax...but basically where the story builds and then falls flat in the last bit. The last mission should typically be the most exciting and action filled.

Warzone was a bit anti-climatic as I finished Russik off pretty quickly...but I was stuck

Posted by Turnsky on 02-07-2001 10:18 AM:

i mean, that i hope it is not gonna be the sort of thing that keeps you playing for hours on end and when you finish it you feel a bit "lacking" in the full experience.
As for warzone, mental block can be a killer for storylines

Yeah...that last mission...I wanted to make it totally spectacular and it fell on its face really. I was not pleased with it, but I'd had about enough.

I certainly hope that you'll be pleased with the two endings for BlackWater Operations. Kellan and I have things firmly in hand for the two endings. They will both be fairly difficult for the player and I think you should feel exhausted by the end

Posted by George on 02-08-2001 08:47 AM:

If you guys are gonna do two endings your either gonna have to do a whole lot of branching missions (which means lots of replaying to get the full experience)
OR
You get the person playing it to make some sorta decision at the end that will decide it.

Personally I couldn't be possibly motivated enough to do the first option which gives me a lot of respect for how long it takes you guys deliver a good quality campain.

Posted by Turnsky on 02-13-2001 11:09 PM:

let's just say that whatever the story lines are for blackwater, it would be a real cracker. I've seen your previous works and each of them has given me a whole new freespace experience. warzone was good so don't worry about it icefire, no one's perfect you know

Posted by IceFire on 02-14-2001 03:25 AM:

Well...in the first half the campaign there are definately some missions that you will have to replay, but in order to make a replay more appealing, there are two options within the first half of the campaign.

In one you'll be fighting renegades and in the other you'll be cleaning up some dirtywork. Those are comprising close to half of the first half (if that makes sense).

Actually, I just can't have this guilt anylonger... I just can't stand to see people's dreams crushed...

You see, Blackwater Operations has one ending, and no choice.

IceFire devised a diabolical plot setup for mission one, where Alpha 1 is killed by a self-destruct sexpt instantly.

Sorry ladies and gents....

Actually, for the comically impaired which I know frequent these forums, BWO does have two full branches for the plot.

Now... I've heard some rumors about... ohh say... new installations for Earth that make the Charon look pretty weak... but alas I cannot prove a word...
