The cannuck is right my eager to advertise your site friend, you probably know less about FreeSpace 3 than even Plasma...
(he still hasn't figured out that FS2 has been released yet since he can't find a copy in stores)
As punishment, endure the gazing stare of my hamster and chaaange your ways!

I'll see what i can find out icefire.
Ok, one more idea: Assuming the Shivans opened up all sorts of new jump corridors by using the supernova, let's say that one of them opens up on Earth. The Shivans, however, do not find out about this exit yet since they are too busy exploring new systems and either haven't come across this exit or don't want to waste time exploring a system that was already known to them. Anyways, the terrans at Sol all of a sudden have this new node, and they jump through only to discover at the other end none other than the Capellan Nebula. And since it is still a young nebula, these terrans traverse it and exit into clear space only to discover via star positions that this is not an unknown system, but Capella! Then they make a quick jump and manage to contact the GTVA, and so on and so forth.
Whadda ya think?
Except that their ships would be completely destroyed by the heat of the capella supernova.
How do Vasudan have kids. i wonder. as soon as SOL force went throw the node into the coppla system they would be burn alive from all the heat in the system. hheheh
------------------
The destyors killed use and now were gone oh well. to bad for use
The heat wouldn't be too much of a problem spread out over that kind of area. The space shuttle can take at least a 300-400 degree change from light side and dark side....so GTVA ships are probably alot better.
They couldn't contact the GTVA from Capella. The Epsilon Pegasi and Vega nodes were closed.
taking say, 1500 degrees difference doesn't matter when we're dealing with, oh.....1,500,000 degrees and 1,498,500 degrees.
i'm guessing icefire that this campaign is mainly centered around Delta Serpentis and Sol? the vasudans that came through the node at the end of the great war after all, theories suggest that sol entered a state of complete chaos when the node collapsed. Therefore the vasudans probably took the blame at some point (scapegoat) from some polititian who hates vasudans and got themselves killed as a result.
That's what I think, but never felt like typing.
Actually...we get around a fair amount. There will be quite a bit in Sol and Delta Serpentis, that is for sure. But we do goto Vega, Beta Aquilae, and just about clear across the GTVA....BWO is a special ops squadron so they go from place to place.
You ask how we do this....you'll see

It would take a long time, but the GTVA could send a series of Microwaves to Sol to get picked up by the giant satelite dishes we have in S.America
As I see it...GTVA communications traffic is sent by subspace relays that utilize subspace nodes to transmit the signal. Transmission to Sol would not be impossible, but for the sake of story, its not happening
