and I had a weird theory I thought up that I don't think is likely (you've seen what I think) but, what if the shivans arethe anchants nono realy I'm thinking maybe every thosand years or so the domonint race from a thousand years ago comes back and trys to stop the next upstart race, wich fights back and adapts to them and steals there technology, and end the end they becom the shivans, or maybe not. but it would have the shivans being a part of a bigger problem.

I thought that, yet we know the Shivans annihilated the ancients, that is a fact.

It's more of a case that the Shivans are an ancient and primal force, and when the Terrans have the capacity to fight the Shivans on their own terms, they will be forced to literally become the destroyers or be swept away by the current.

What is the current? It is why the Shivans are what they are.

while I admit it is unlikely I don't think it would be totaly out side the relm of (FS) reality, I mean the Shivans did destroy Vasuda and for all tents and perposes Earth, and that only made them stronger, the way they look at it they probly don't think there gona make it, much like the Anchents must have after the destruction of there home world, though they had the ability to destroy the main atack ship (not necasaraly the/a lucyfer, particularly if this therory is true) and they would probly be able to adapt sheilds, sooner or later they would learn all that the shivans had and add some of there own stuff too it in order to save them selves from the shivan threat, they would treat any violents as a potential threat in the end they would become the Shivans.
the shivans, would trancend specise or ideals, they would be the embodyment of the violence and hate, the technology and advancements, the triumps and milestones of every race the univerce has knowen, they are the rage of the univerce given flesh (well an exoskeliten)

but thats just an openion it could be wrong,
but then again it isn't real,
but that's just something you say when your argument is weak

The ancients had the ability to track vessels through sub-space, and learned that shields did not function in sub-space.

But this was after their homeworld was destroyed that they found the last piece to this knowledge.

The ancients did not have the firepower to even destroy Shivan fightercraft, let alone the Lucifer.

They all died, screaming.

The Shivans are the ancients? It's possible, maybe the Shivans assimilated them a la the Borg.

The ancients were not this great race we hail them as. They conquered species after species, and killed them all off. They were as bad as the Shivans, but not as powerful.

I hope that people making these 'Ancient' campaigns keep in mind the Ancients were not friendly, and I hope they do not ally us with them...

The cutscenes... We conquered countless races. Millions of years of evolution over in months time, something like that, you know... Listen to them, they tell alot about the history

Wooosh, I've just read the whole thread, and I have lots of ideas, but, right now, I'll just ask something:
Why are you assuming what is written in the techroom is true? The techroom is a GTVA techroom, and as far as I know, GTVA doesn't know more than us on the subject, all that is written there is based on vague suppositions. As far as I know, all this could have been put in by volition to lure the player in a wrong direction, as FS3 was (then) definitively planed.

In freespace in the cutscenes it shows the ancients talking and describing their fight against the shevans. THe ancients refered to them as the destroyers, this says that they had no name for the shevans and they were unknown to them. and if they had created the shevans they would of been more advanced than it implies in the cutscenes.
It would take a very lot of tech to create another species and one that could actually be far more intelligent and create it's own tech very very quickly. To do this would be almost impossible as the ancients could of easily destroyed them in the meanwhile.

The origin

You know, the Shivans and Ancients?
I suppose it was so: the Ancients rose in power in "our" part of the Galaxy, killing any strangers they `ve found- so they were really strong (when compared with T-V range in the Universe).
But during this conquest, they have met a strange race, which attacked them, an artificial one. Who could create them? a small race, not numerous but technically advanced which didn`t want to risk, so they`ve let the Shivans forward and then slowly colonized all what remained or have created just a line of destroyed system- to dissallow any other races to develop.

And Ancients? They were strong, but if compared with Shivans who have been destroying the sistems through thousands of years and LY, they were nothing. So it was, so it is, so it`ll be

How do u know the ancients were bad and destroyed races.
If they were this bad terrans and vasudans would of been killed thousands of years ago by the ancients

Good point. But I believe that it is possibly because Terrans were not a threat to the Ancients, since they only had pointy sticks...

And didn't Ice say something about Vasudans being "altered" slightly by the ancients? Or was that pure sheiss?

What does that mean? That no race the ancients faced had anywhere near the technology that they had until the Shivans.

Also, as a V writer said, their technology was identical to that of the GTA except a decade or two more. (so no beams, flak, shields etc. , and only some advanced sub-space tech)

Also note that the advanced ancients tech is based on ruins of races before...

They found Knossoses and finished on them, and they invented tracking.

We used tracking, won, and live ;-)
