Total Conversion
I intend to make a total conversion for FreeSpace 2. I want to put Star Wars ships, weapons, sounds, graphics and such in to make a base for new campaigns. I also had the idea to make a revolution for the FreeSpace 2 multiplayer gameplay. I want to introduce the good old X-wing and Tie-fighter gameplay into the mighty FreeSpace 2 engine. I liked the old Star Wars games, but I don´t like X-wing vs. Tie-Fighter or X-wing Alliance. As for the multiplayer, I aim for a second Counterstrike (mod for Halflife) revolution. If we (the FS community) make this thingy real, we might get PXO to support this total conversion (adding leagues or allowing the stats on PXO). It might get new vitality into FreeSpace 2.
I won´t start this if I don´t get enough response from interested people. We´d need a lotta team members.
Modellers
Texture artists
Sound specialists
Music guys
As for the singleplayer campaigns and multiplayer missions I thought of Freelancers. This means if yore interested in making a singleplayer campaign or a multiplayer mission, tell me what you have intended for it and what ships types you´d need.
As for myself, I´d be able to make models and missions/campaigns. I can´t do any graphics or sounds...
Oh, and I forgot the message animations.
Sounds like you want to join FS Zone to me..lol
No... and I forgot tbl artists.... I´m sure I still forgot some other positions... Hm, Interface and HUD art...
I can do .tbls
Do you want to team up?
Alright, but I tell you know I've gotten bored with SW.
But I can .tbl hack PDQ, so I don't mind.

What´s PDQ?
Pretty Damn Quick
Ah, I see. Sounds pretty damn strange, but ok.
i posted this news on Ross128. Hope you guys can put up a team and make this possible.
Good luck

I could have taken any other universe, but Star Wars is well known and might grab some interest.
I´m making this project as a base for new projects. Having X-Wing Alliance and
all the other games, it is still impossible to edit something for these games
(lack of support and tools by the developers). If I carry this thing out
(I´d need a lotta help from the community, though), it might bring new vitality into
the FS 2 community. I´m making this thing only, because I want to save the
community. The FS2 community is still very strong, but it expires without new
impulses. All the new websites opening they doors are great and I really appreciate it, but FreeSpace 2 is mainly an editing community. Volition made a wonderful editor and they also support the community with tools and great modding possibilties (having the .vp files). Adam Pletcher was so kind
to release ACANI (and the source code). Many game companies don´t even release editors (and no support). Adam wasn´t forced to release ACANI, but he did it. Without getting money for that. The Volition guys also helped the hobby developpers in the early stage of FreeSpace 1 to develop tools. Now we´re having the Descent Manager tools (special thanks to Heiko Herrman). The Descent
Network made these tools for mod developpers. Mod developpers have fun making mods/missions for players. The players have fun playing them. It´s all about fun. If a game has a lively community, then the publisher knows of a lotta people that would buy a sequel. Take Halflife for example. Over 10,000 websites
(way more than 10,000....) are there. This means that over 10,000 webmaster contribute a lot of their life time for maintaining their site. Visitors have fun visitting their sites/downloading stuff from there. Halflife 2 will be bought by millions of fans from Halflife. It´s incredible. Valve will
spend some extra time to make Halflife 2 a wonderful game, because they can be sure
that millions of fans will buy it (and not copy it). However, we have a different
situation with FreeSpace 2. Interplay has the rights for FreeSpace 2 and Volition (you should love Volition, because they love their community and stay in contact with it) can´t develop a sequel. The FreeSpace 2 community is way smaller than the Halflife community (and I know of a lotta (Reallife) guys that
don´t even know of FreeSpace 2). Interplay didn´t publish FreeSpace 2 very well.
(I stopped the usual blaming) That´s why not many people know of FreeSpace 2.
The people that know it, love the game, because it´s a great game. I love it
even more than Halflife. The few people that love FreeSpace 2 develop things for
players..... but there aren´t many players. That´s why more and more people stop
developping something for FreeSpace 2 and retire from the community. If the community would grow, THQ might consider to buy the rights for FS3 from Interplay. This is what I´m aiming for. If THQ sees that the FS2
community isn´t dead (and survived till FS3 comes out), they might think about an FS3.
We need to get more players. Tell everybody you know about FreeSpace 2. We need to get
more players. We, the community.

Hey I'm your man!!!!!
I started a Starwars mod. I have Darth Mauls mod plus The A-wing X1 Tie advanced TIE interceptor Tie bomber Tie Defender Correlian ZCorvette and ****loads more with textures ready to go You can convert them in five minutes. It's exactly the same way as I did the Wing Commander mod. You can even use TRUESPACE 1!!!!! and the textures still come out perfectly. Are you interested just drop me a message at Darkmage50@start.com.au

I already said I'd help on the VBB but I'll say it here aswell. I can get sounds for weapons and ships from the x-wings, provide technicle and historicle knoledge of SW and do .tbls. I might also be able to music aswell.

I love the idea , FS Zone will hook it up with publicity.
If you don't read the other posts I make..FS Zone will stuff all of there mission designers or whoever you want into the creation of it. It helps keep FS alive , then FS Zone will take apart of it! lol. I suppose its way to early to start prepareing for the end of FS..but better safe then sorry? lol
So what is the big plan for the campaign to go with it?
Oh I can do new loading screens and stuff too.
