TBP_Open 2.0

ok I am going to post the _unoffical_ SCP TBP extention
otherwise known as TBP_Open
this contains a build of FSO that 'should' work and new and modifyed files to enable FSO features that would otherwise go unseen, such as glow maps and fighter beams, some of you may get a good performance boost as well (others may get worse)

this includes several altered pofs includeing a version of the Olympus that 'works' (I'll be it far from a perfict solution) and a hyperion with glow points, altered tables, a few extra fx files

to install this simply dump all of the files into a data directory (I sudjest copying the current one and dumping everything into that fs will use what ever is in the directory named 'data' over anything in the VPs) and play as normal. to turn it off simply rename the folder (from 'data' to something else)

note only minimal testing has been done

and yes there are bugs, if you find any please post about them

I will be makeing updates sparaticly

Remember people: TBP_Open is UNOFFICIAL at the moment and may cause problems.

Bobboau is the only person you should ask help from if you have problems with TBP_Open. (Poor Bob... )

What is different in this Olympus?

EDIT: Bobboau, how about making TBP_Open a single .vp file? It would be much easier to handle.

it's LODs were striped out, and I think it has no debris, something seriosly weird was/is going on with that model.

and I don't think this will affect the patching as it does not modify the VPs (all you have to do is remove/rename the new files) though I supose some people who have no idea how FS's loading system works may run into problems

it is that 'yet' that has been FSOs bain for the last year or so
were focused more on fixing bugs right now than adding features

2.0 has certainly made the game a lot more stable now. Using 1.4 it used to crash fairly frequently and unpredictably. Now I haven't had a single crash or error!

This is not to say that 2.0 is bug free but it is a lot more stable than 1.4.

Good job

Right, so it is safe to download? On another note, my vidcard is a voodoo 3, is it a ok for it? Sorry to ask, but other games sometimes give me some graphical problems cuz of the voodoo 3.

Posted by Bobboau on 05-21-2003 12:46 AM:

it should overide for the nial, if it doesn't I will fix it sooner or later,

it's good to hear someone is haveing fewer problems than before

a glow map is a map that glows , DL and play, the changes should be quite obvius

I have heard some things about V3s I think it was the open GL that had problems but it should work, one problem is glow mapping hasn't been implemented for glide, so you have to use D3D and we just upgraded to DX8 so there may be problems

Where do I put the .bmp and .tga files?
The .bmp is in the map folder, right?

Extract everything to FS2 root folder.

Bobboau, consider making TBP_Open a vp package. It would be much easier to manage.

I think there's some error with the menu images when the Open is used...

The images appear to be divided in a 4 by 3 pattern... there're multiple lines between a single image

I have heard of this error, it's some what rare but not unknown, what are your specs

and fury I wanted this to overide R2 files easily and while I could do that in a VP I... don't... want to... ...
I work with strait files so it's a bit quicker and easier for me doing it this way, given that I will probly make updates constantly, and such,
so the quick answer I guess is the same reason why I don't have a working deRARafier, I'm lazy
