For those that have put together missions just throwing all the cool TBP ships into battle, please share.

Please post them or send me all your furballs, gaunlets, turkey shoots, scrapped missions, anything you've fredded to mess around with the ships. Bascially if you used a program called fred2 to make it, i want it.

send them to rbextra@att.net and i'll host them, if you don't have webspace.

I'm going to try to learn fred2 again, how to you beam free?

hit control+E to bring up the events editor.

click new event

click the pluss sign beside the event

right-click on the second "true"

select "change operator"

select "change"

click "beam free all"

right-click "Alpha 1" under beam free all

select the option that lbrings a list of ship-names

click on the ship t free beams


when you finish it should look something like this:


- Event Name
|
|when
|true
|beam-free-all
|<name of ship to beam free>

I want a mission where everyship from the current mod is layed out on the map. In the case of fighters put four. And you can destroy them, and when you do it appears again.

ENDLESS KILLING.

Or another one where you are flying around a Starbase (B5 preferably...Orion would be fine though) and ships dock, fighters launch. EA ships jump in say stuff then jump out, maybe a few attacks...

sort of like just a normal guard duty...y'know?

How do i make a capship automatically attack the nearest hostile capship??

and

Send me your stuff, thanks to those that already have i'll make a simple webpage for them soon so everyone an play with them!!

Please remember that fighting in big crazy battles with tons of caps is what makes freespace2 great, so if you know your fred2 just throw together something and everyone will love it.

if a capship is capable of firing weapons, it will fire on any hostile ship in range unless told otherwise.

Yes i know, but i was hoping there was a sexp to make it so capships would automatically move towards and fight the nearest enemy capship.

no, but if given initial order to attack another capship, it will close in to firing range.

Battles that big don't work unless you do a loooooot of scripting. Sure you could set every ship to attack every other ship but it wouldn't turn out the way you want it to.

The best thing to do is make a series of missions and go from mission to mission taking down another cap ship, or maybe lossing one of your own so you can get revenge in the next mission.....


My point: Battles made in the style of Endor (SW: ROTJ) rarely if ever work.

No, I meant that they just sat there. Doing nothing but when you kill them it jumps in again so you can just kill what you want.

You mean like in XWing:A? where you would fight and fight, then go and dock then go back out there agian? that was cool and it gave me a break from all the intence fighting that was going on at the Battle of Endor missions.
