Volition's lack of response on these boards is pathetic

Seriously, the lack of OFFICIAL Volition response here is absolutely terrible.

I remember way back when Summoner 1 first came out for the PC you would actually get some decent info about what was going on, what was being fixed/pathced, etc.

All I hear are crickets and all I see are tumbleweeds blowing by.

I am not demanding that they have someone answering questions daily. But at the very least they could have someone stop in every few days or once a week to answer the big questions.

Some really big questions are:

1) Are you considering a port of Summoner 2 to the PC ?

2) If yes, any timetable?

3) If no, why not and are you aware of how huge the support is for that game?

4) What is the deal with the GC port of Summoner 2? Exactly *WHAT* is different about it?

5) Further, what's the problem with the release. It was supposed to be in stores last week and it didn't make it.

I guess that's a reason they shut down the VOLITION Bulletin Board... Not enough people to patrol and keep speculation and rumors to a minimum.

Actually they closed it down because it was the best flameboard ever

And this is not an official Volition personell board, they never have to check this one. Take the mopping somewhere else, we're all stocked up here.

1) Highly, highly doubtful that this would happen. Summoner 1 was designed for PC before it was ported to PS2. With PS2 taking the lead position in development, S2 was developed with the console specifically in mind. Therefore, the control scheme is very console oriented and recreating that on a PC would undoubtedly produce entirely different results.

2) See number 1.

3) See number 1.

4) Apparently all thats different is a custom animation and lighting scheme that takes advantage of GameCube specific abilities over that of the PS2. I think some textures were also boosted in resolution. Its got a name change too since Summoner 1 was never on GC. They are using these changes as a selling point, but its really just the same stuff that happens to any game ported from one console to another.

Volition employee's have no obligation to support these forums. Thats our job: you, me, the rest of the fans. Sometimes they show up...I think Todd was over at the RF forums a few weeks back dispelling some rumors so its not like they are invisible.

So they they shut down their official forums and they don't even tacitly support any fan site forums?

Um...... Hello. In this day and age you have to support your products a lot better.

No wonder the EXCELLENT games they make only get mediocre sales. I love the Summoner games but I can see why hardly anyone knows about them.

Compare Volition to say.... Bioware or Blizzard. It isn't hard to see why those other 2 companies sell about 10 times as many copies.

The sad thing is, it isn't the lack of quality in the GAMES. It is the total lack of support, information, news, hype, etc. =(

Well said. I really hate to see it.

The really sad thing is all they need to do is spend a little time either having their own forums or at least dropping by as a "guest admin" on a fan site's forums (if they don't want to handle the hassles of dealing with forum complaints).

I own a company that has been making online RPGs for 7 years and I cannot *imagine* not regularly giving our customers feedback on what is going on.

basically what I said.

and yes. I believe they should at least answer some questions. not that they really have for as long as I've been around (which isn't really that long compared to some).

1. No.

3. I guess we don't see the game turning a profit.

4. Maya and Taurgis have new character models and probably animations, and there's a little new texture work, and probably a couple other things. As far as the game and gameplay goes, its the exact same.

5. I don't know. It wasn't delayed or anything, there was probably just some snafu in shipping the game.

Furthermore, I try to answer questions where appropriate. If we're dealing with something that hasn't yet been announced, you can't reasonably expect me to answer the question.
