Crusade: The Plague

So its been a few years, rumors have circulated. Apparently the Excalibur crew is/was supposed to find the cure in second season, but it turns out that the cure isn't everything they bargained for.

Lets have a discussion about what you guys think that really means.

My guess is nasty side-effect. Like, oh, I dunno. "It cures the plague all right, but it has this tendancy to kill you itself...or mutate you into something big, bad, and ugly..."

Of course, that'd shift the focus of the Excalibur's mission from finding something to finding something capable of changing it...while still maintaining the "Crusade" aspect (e.g. the quest to find salvation for Earth)

Perhaps the cure took over after it killed of the plague so all air breathing life on earth had nano tech bots roaming around which could be reprogrammed to be deadlier than the shadow plague..

NO they rigged the new nanobots so that they would self destruct after they took out the shadow plague and what exactly is this topic about? how the series would have gone on?

Well what interests me more than the plague itself is how the drakh on Centauri Prime got kicked out. I'm guessing they got kicked off the planet because in the last B5 episode Vir (who I assume was emperer [sp?]) seemed pretty happy before he got the letter telling his Sheridan was going to die soon.

Going back to the original discussion I'm guessing that if the cure "isn't everything they bargained for" then maybe they discover that the Drakh have Centauri Prime under their control. That then ties into them getting the cure. Possibly the Drakh had the cure or know where to find it.

Well there's the other plot that was supposed to be added into the whole equation.

The Black Ops ship, Gideon's Apocalypse boxes knows about it and gives him a lead. He discovers one of the EA's secret Shadow tech bases. At the end of Season 1, he's ready to expose the Earth Alliance for working on the stuff. Of course its only a faction, the President at this point probably doesn't even know. Apparently the finale involves Gideon getting shot at by a sniper during a press conference. But Galen was there too, so it may be likely that he saves him....

So Galen is in on the whole thing too because searching for leftover Shadow tech is part of his alterior motives.

JMS said that they would find the cure, the Excalibur would go renegade, and it would be a show with some more political meanings by its 3rd Season. Technology vs nature, and that sort of theme.

Ashrak, you've apparently never come across the concept of "discussion" or "speculation". This is for fun and for interests sake. If you don't think so, then don't post in it.

JMS has given us plenty of clues as to where Crusade was supposed to be going its been fun in other forums to try and figure things out.

Plus we may have time in the future to further tell the story of the Excalibur in TBP.

maybe it involves something like creating clones of everyone that are resistant to the virus and transfering consciousness? and thats maybe an ethical issue...

no wait, EA doesnt have that kind of tech...
