Turret 5 & 6

First off, I must express the greatness of this project.

Now, on to business.
Why does the Nova not have a turret 5 or 6. Are those the side mounted turrents, and ifso, are they turrets in the pof.
What i am really asking is if i can edit the table to include these turrets?

thanks

Heh, now there's an interesting point. The Nova really doesn't have turrets 5 and 6. Even in the pof they go like 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and so on.

But that is only with the numbering, the Nova does use all of its turrets. Is there a reason for this, or was it just a mistake?

the Nova does not use 2 of its turrets on its side, kinda in the middle.

Nova has the geometries of turrets 5&6 (the ones on the sides), but aren't set to work as turrets because making lateral turrets work in fs2 is impossible. Since Nova does have turrets there, we saw it best to leave them there as dummies.

turrets get removed all the time... polycount, poor firing point (i.e for beams), too many on ship, etc. Maybe they just decided the turret there wasn't really 'right' for the ship, and didn't bother to rename all the other turrets.

Does that mean the side turrets on the Hyperion don't work either? Or the main guns for the Omega?

No...

FreeSpace 2 does not allow for turrets to be the rotating barrel kind on the side of a vessel. Only on the top and bottom. The Hyperions two turrets that are on the side work...but they have no rotation and no barrel. They are just domed. We did that because we had to...if we could, we would make them rotate and have a barrel as well.

FreeSpace 2 has turrets on the side, but they don't rotate. Remember. If you didn't see it in FS2, then we can't do it. Any "new" effect is just a combination of something else....there is nothing new in TBP aside from content.

Worked in an early beta, I even have that beta, but Kazan determined that the code had been removed for the final.
