BWO Questions...

Ok, Since you guys want questions, I'll give some...

I ask the third question, becuase if the Shivans could enter Ross128 without a node, like the GTVA needs, then it is quite possible they can find Sol too like that. No?

Smile

1- I think that the wrp gate in the Charon is very similar to the Knossos found in the Gamma Drac... it has those rotating thingies for example...

2- I think that the Golghota has more than one reactor... I think that the meson reactor is that bright blue thing in the middle of the ship, it problably just delivers energy to the Main Cannon...

3- I'm not good at numners!!! I think that mars and all the other moons and planets have been colonized even before the discovery of subspace... I'm sure that Earth wasn't really expecting to subspace to come up, so that they could start colonizing some new planets... I believe that the Sol citizens are willing to fight the GTVA, and close the jump node, to prevent another shivan invasion...

Now I put another question here:

- How did sol get enough resources to build such a big army to defend it self from the GTVA? I suspect that the Sol military isn't just Sol military, but a lot of other new systems discovered by sol...

i assume the SDF has developed new methods of preserving & recycling materials given their limited scope...

expect an overwhelming number of Prometheus cannons though

Earth is a industrial Hub. It could be a blade runner type city but much bigger(think higher). So more than 18 Billion. I think Ross 128 may of been a unstable Node that wasnt known to exist.

  • Stripmining the asteroid field and various moons would provide more than enough resources for the Terran forces to rebuild.

    Question

I've already posted a comment like this in another thread, but here goes:

I'm positive that the movie clips in FS1 show three jump nodes in the sol system. This would mean that Sol would at least have access to two other systems allowing them to colonize and gather resources to fuel their army.

Posted by dredhawk on 07-06-2001 03:36 AM:

I think they mest up on that map. The game says that all jump nodes to Sol are gone. My be the three nodes were very close to each other. and when the Lucifer blow up it took all them out. just a guess. hehehe

The map in the game was wrong. When the final story was layed down, the map had already been made and could not be changed.

    1) The Charon is not just a Knossos portal, its a full blown installation. The Charon is like an Arcadia station in some respects although its alot larger. Its also more than capable of defending itself against anything that attacks it. That includes destroyer class and up.

    2) The Golgotha is powered by conventional fusion drives like all other GTVA capital ships. The Meson reactor is for powering the gun almost exclusively, although excess energy can be siphoned off to the other beam weapons and other systems as needed. The reactor however, at full power generation is unstable and likely to explode under extreme conditions. So the beam is almost never fired at full power. If it were to do so, even the Apocalypse would have a sizable hole in it.

    3) Mars is colonized. Probably was before the node was closed. Sol has taken advantage of the space that it has within the system. Neptune is a major military waystation and Earth and Mars are centers of trade.

Come on dredhawk! If your going to use the same reply in a different topic you could at least fix the mistakes in it.

By the way, its Boldly not Bodly.

Neptune is on the outside of our gallexy, and so would be useless to protect anyware. Ships might have to travel over the other side of the galexy to fend of attackers.

Neptune would only be a viable milletry instalation if multiple jump nodes or other phnomonom, were found to be on the outscers of our solarsystem.

Therefore i conclude that the sol inhabitants have found other jumpnodes leading to galexys rich in resources that they need to protect from pirates, or Shivans.

Allright, first off, since when has anything that the military has done have to make sense!?!

second, it was NEVER established just where that jump node actually is.

and third, and this is the most important point, who ever said that the other 2 jump nodes were STABLE!?!

they could be so unstable that even the shivans didn't attempt to use them. though with the knossos technology, these jump nodes could be stablised to allow comm traffic or maybe even limited traffic by military ships and other ships equiped with heavier jump drives.

I think that it is extremely normal that neptune is used for a military installation... since it is a remote planet, litlle traffic would pass by, so the Sol forces could conduct all their stuff with no interferences...

About that thing of the resources... I'm sure that all the resources in the Solar System had been depleted even before the discovery of subspace... it belongs to human nature...

I'm still sure that the Solars found some new star systems to exploit, because, they has humans, didn't save the resources of Sol for an upcoming catastrophe like this one

George: you are right about that thing of the three nodes, but those were a V mistake

Arrghhh do you realise how much resources are on a planet, earth because it is covered with so much water means we cant get to a great deal of our resources.

The thing is at this point in time we are pretty much limited to just strip mining what we need and we cant go too deep - its not economicaly viable.

This is what 300 years in the future i SERIOUSLY doubt that they have no constructed new methods of mineral extraction, with only limited resources (though massive amounts) they would invest in creating proper extraction facilities

you could easly build 80 sathanas from 1% of mars' iron dposits.

The FS universe ships are big but they are not big enough to be on a "planet resource draining" scale.

I mean the us navy builds 5 nuclear carriers we havnt suddenly run out of all usable minral resources have we!

Fusion would of been created hundreds of years ago, fusion combines particles to make new ones. This means thay can create any material, they only need water (which is plentiful).
If would be perfectly possible for Earth to improve this method and make lots of materials very easily and quickly

Well... It may be that they recycled many older ships, (Orions if they had any, Fenrises, Leviathans, etc.) and created new ships with old and new parts. An Orion could be scrapped, melted down, and be used to make atleast 1 Fenris, no?

And who's to say thet they didn't strip mine almost every planet they could? Mercury, Venus... stripped. Jupiter, wow, there may be enough there to build a fleet of Collosi (sp?). Neptune, yes it is military, but that doesn't mean it wasn't mined. Uranus, another big one... Pluto... Who knows... Mars too even.

And with an irrational fear of another Shivan enslaught, They may have some "Hella-big" defense platform set up.

As far as Sol knows, the GTVA may not even exist. There may be no more Vasudans than the ones living in Sol, and so they colonized a planet too. And Shivans could have infested everything outside of it. And with their ability to travel through the most unstable of nodes, Sol could be prepared to fight for it's survival.

And the brief war scene we saw in the teaser? Say the GTVA finally opens the node. Sol, in disbeleif, reads a node on the hud display of a patrolling fighter. The ETA of the GTVA's arrival into the system is 6 hours, for arguments sake, and Sol gets every big ship it can in there. Suddenly, an Erinyes appears. It moves towards the fleet. Then Boom! Laser volleys fire like crazy at it. Destroying it. Some pilot with loose fingers, you never know.

Anyway, a Hecate Enters. Sol has never seen this class before. One stupid Admiral orders to fire at will. And the Hecate is shot at by some cruisers. It then powers up it's beam cannon, and the Sol forces can only sit and watch as cruiser after cruiser is tore to shreds by these weapons.

    Suddenly, War is declared.

This is possible. Then again, I may be 100% off. Or maybe even 50%, but it is very likely.

Although I would suspect that the GTVA would atleast send in some kind of communications signal first.

just remember that the SDF would probably have invented Anti-Lucifer weaponry based on any Lucifer wreckage recovered and all data collected during TGW...

be it a hyper-powerful single-shot weapon (sorta like MT's Conversion Matrix) or just trans-phasic bombs, it would be guarenteed to cause more damage than a Hecate's beam weaponry... unless its a second-generation Hecate*
