Too... many... freebies!

If you've been wondering why my updates from the floor have been so short, it's due to the press off ice being so busy that we're limited in how much time we can spend on the computers. There's a bit of a lull in the proceedings at the moment, so I stole a few moments to post this update. The lack of most of the big names here has meant a few things.

Firstly, anything big that is happening draws huge crowds. I got to look at 'Anarchy Online', but I wasn't willing to wait long enough to get to a keyboard, for example, and outside both of the Blizzard press conferences was a throng of fanboys hoping to get invited in at the last moment.

The other effect is that the smaller companies can now get close enough to shove more freebies into your sweaty palm as you pass. So far I've received 4 bags (nVidia's sucked by the way, it broke and spilled its contents onto the floor), over 15 CDs of varying sizes, 3 mouse mats, and several hundred thousand sheets of paper and leaflets. When I leave, I'll have a heavy load to take with me.

Of course, the upside for you is that when I get home, I'll have a lot more information, and a varied lot at that. This means that I can report more in-depth (when I wake up, that is - it's been a tiring day).

For those of you wondering about the GameCube I mentioned in my previous update, yes, it was there, and damn, the graphics looked impressive. More on that later.

Anyway, I'm gonna go glare at GameSpot UK, since they think they're too good for the shared press office or something, and have their own private office at the edge of the centre.

Actually, I'll do one last tour of the centre to see if there's anything I missed, then head into the bar. This is my last ECTS 2001 from-the-floor update. You'll have to wait until later to hear about everything else, but you'll get photos then, too. Fraz out.
