Well, since they had hundreds of the damn things for the Minbari war, I'd say they'd have already had them while fighting the Dilgar.

Yes, both ships along with the Olympus Corvette, Avenger Carrier, and Artemis Light Cruiser were in service during the Dilgar War. The Nova Dreadnought was the newest ship to enter service during the Dilgar War after it beat out the Orpheus Battleship.

When talking about matters like this, you should always point out if you are talking about non-canon ships. Nova and new Nova class Starfury (older version of Aurora) were the newest ships when the Dilgar war broke out.
Oh well, actually even this is not 100% canon information, only about 50%... go figure.

Actually the Artemis and Avenger are AoG ships from B5 Wars, which means they are official to the B5 universe despite them being non-canon (not featured in the series). The Olympus was in ITB and was supposed to have been more prominantly shown in the series. The only custom non-canon ship is the Orpheus Battleship but I mentioned it because it was supposed to have been in competition with the Nova during the pre-Dilgar War era and because I like it.

The list of ships that were active in one form or another during the Dilgar War, and were still active during the course of the show according to AoG (sorry, I don't have their Dilgar War expansion pack) are:
Artemis
Hermes
Hyperion
Olympus
Oracle
Saggitarius
Tethys
I hasten to add that this is only the list of ships who have variants currently in service as of the time of the show (i.e. Some ships may have older variants that are no longer in service but the general hull type is).

The first Hyperions were Alphas. Lateron it was upgraded to the Hyperion and even later to the Midwinter.
Don´t ask me what was upgraded. I don´t know.

I've just found something interesting about the naming convention for Hyperions:
"This, for those who don't know, is one of our early boo-boos that refuse to die. See, back when we were creating the game, we didn't know if Hyperion was the class name or just the name of one of the ships. Since the actual Hyperion had shown up on TV, we assumed it couldn't possibly be the class name, so we made one up. Roosevelt sounded cool, so we used it in our internal tests and eventually in our first round of public tests, after which WB finally stepped in and said it was really supposed to be the Hyperion class. Well, needless to say, copies of that original playtest material managed to bounce around the internet in one way or another and managed to wind up on several web sites, all because we needed a temporary name for a ship."
Bruce Graw (Head guy of Babylon 5 Wars)
Interesting that the Roosevelt class was entirely made up by them and that Hyperion is the actual class name

I always thought that the Alpha was the real class name, and those others submodel names.
Like this.
"Alpha class heavy cruiser, Hyperion/Roosevelt/Midwinter variant"

That's the confusing thing. Even with the Hyperion naming system the original is called the Hyperion Alpha, just as the Midwinter is called the Hyperion Theta.
Don't worry about taking my word for things, both sets of people have their own views and it will stay that way. I just found this interesting fact about the origins of the Roosevelt name
