DOn't know. For OUR purposes TS 5.1 offers nothing that is required for modding . TS 4.? is sufficient .

I had TS 5 but couldn't handle it.

Wink

From what I know, you have to right click the face you want to map (goes into select face mode), then left click on it (it will turn light green). Hold ctrl & left-click any faces you want to add to the selection - the bounding box (?) will expand to include this face.

Then simply select the UV mapping button as you would with the model selected normally.

The only two things to remember are that;
a/ you need much smaller reps for the face
b/ sometimes you can get strange results with cubic mapping on 'sunken' faces - so you may need to try planar for this face instead. With one face, it doesn't seem to make much difference to cubic, although I've yet to use it for mulitple faces... .

Hope that is of help

Actually TS5 is much suprior to TS4 it allows texturing manually(and by value imput as well) wich is much more intuitive. to texture each face individualy first choose a face then click UV space button then click materials button, one of the small buttons of this material window has 2brush tipes choose the simple brush instead of the roller brush this will place a chosen texture in that face(s) click Uv space button again to strech/ move the texture map int the selected faces, its that simple.
The only problem is if you do extensive UV map the cob file will grow enormously.At leas to me it did, but its a fact tha also all the meshes I texured were made on TS4 so it might be a compatibility issue.

You might want to reduce the number of materials, and the number of textures used on a model. The number of materials can make quite a big difference to the fps...

cheers!

The converter we use automatically reduces materials to minimum amount possible.

Haderak, the file getting big, I get it too. I use 4.3 while the other use 4.2 which has created some confusion in the history...because it seems that my version does face-unique materials. So, if I uv-space and texture 4 polygons with the exact same surface options and texture map, I still get 4 materials when I should get 1. That makes both the rendering and loading of the model very slow in the last ends of the texturing process, very annoying. But, I think it's the materials that fatten the file, atleast for me.

we can always go arround that by converting to POF and then back again to COB using kazans tool. it will reduce the size of the file, and for what it was said here that could mean the number of materials was reduced to minimun when COB-POF convertion was made.
