Question B5 tech info

So, now that I started to post here, I might as well continue with some questions.

I do like B5 however I never really gave a damn about any tech stats. Now though, that I want to make some missions, I would be really happy if someone would help me find some on the net.
(Yeah you guessed it I am too lazy to go around and look myself.)
I would like to know things like how many fighters does the nova have, or the corvette, or hyperion. And how many fighters does sharlin have. ETC ETC ETC. The tech stuff. :-) Do you guys know any sites that would help?

b5tech.com ... Nothing more to say!

Posted by Mr. Fury on 10-13-2001 05:24 PM:

B5tech is full of crap, they have made up most of their technical infos.

There is only one sita that I trust, as it shows only canon information, too bad it's not in english.

The site I was talking about can be found here (language is finnish )
http://gamma.nic.fi/~mpetays/b5/liittokunnat.html

You use arabic numbers and the metric system, don't you? So at least most of the data should be no problem to evaluate, I think...

I checked the page: No data on how many fighters earth alliance cruisers carry... This won't help then. There is info about it on b5tech, but as you said, this might not be correct...

Posted by Freeze on 10-13-2001 05:37 PM:

Exclamation

Don't use B5Tech ... some stats are correct, but they pull way too much other, unknown information from their hats.

Hyperspace - http://hyperspace.isnnews.net/ - is, as far as I know crredited for not speculating on hard data, but giving out just hard facts.

The site Mr. Fury stated is based mainly on knowledge from Hyperspace, so you're in good hands on either of these sites. Too bad it's in finnish language only.

Cool... this looks professional!

Now I know what I'll do next... Read all the info on this page from top to bottom. Thanx for the link!

Btw: That's the page the finnish one got the pictures from, right?

Posted by Mr. Fury on 10-13-2001 05:44 PM:

Oh yes, I completely forgot Hyperspace.

From b5tech:

class: Nova
type: Dreadnought
length: 1,455.6 meters
mass: 32 million metric tons
crew: 250
troop: 8,000
fighter: 36 Starfury fighter craft
power: 4 Fusion Reactors
duration: 18 months
weapon: 22 Twin Plasma Cannons
6(!) Particle Beam Guns(!)
Fusion missiles [2 launchers] (?)
defense: 8 to 10 meter armored hull - 22 Mk. II Defense Grid Energy Projectors (?)

Yes indeed, extremely canon....

Posted by Mr. Fury on 10-13-2001 07:41 PM:

Mass, troop, crew and duration infos are also questionable.

Tech Sources for B5

I would suggest :-

1. The series & films (count the fighters as they launch)
2. The AOG range of books is/was approved by JMS.

Get AOG Info from - agentsofgaming.com

If you want specifics ( I have most of the books), let me know.

Ta.

Yeah they do, but when there is no canonical sources they just make it up. It wouldn't be a problem if they marked which is canon and which isn't, but they dont.

Well they have had them since the Dilgar wars according to AOG and itb showed a Nova firing one in itb. So thats correct but that doesn't mean the rest is.

Acorrding to the B5 info Cd-rom an Omega carries two full squadrons of fighters and acorrding to my dictionary a sqaudron is 12-18 fighters. So a full squadron would be 2x18, 36! Since te Nova is basic hull of the Omega its safe to say they carry the same so Nova is 36.

Hyperion, 6. All sources say this so its pretty canon.

The Olympus Corvette probably doesn't carry any.

According to the B5 CD-rom a Sharlin carries 15 fighters.

Thanks to everybody. BTW Trinity you should post some stats if you can. I guess we would all appreciate it. BTW is anybody interested in the list of briefing icons and what they represent? Because they are done on a pretty random basis. Like the Bomber Wing is the Breifing icon for the Jump gate, the unknown is for the Tinsahi. I guess for the people wanting to make more mission this would be quite interesting.

B5 tech made up a lot of stuff, but I agree with almost everything... its logical deduction I say... what he says is the general feeling that we get after seeing the show

so b5tech.com

after all, wasnt that your topic name?
