CALABASAS HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2000--THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI) finished the first half of 2000 (January - June) as the No. 2 third-party and No. 4 overall videogame publisher according to NPD TRSTS Video Games June 2000 report.

NPD TRSTS Video Games ranks and reports videogame console software sales according to total dollars and units sold. Additionally, THQ was named to Deloitte & Touche's "2000 Los Angeles Technology Fast 50" as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the greater Los Angeles region. Each of the "2000 Los Angeles Technology Fast 50" companies will be considered for the national Deloitte & Touche "Technology Fast 500" list.

NPD produces reports based on retail sales of video games, computer games and computer educational software. NPD's monthly reports reflect sales of consumer software through all major retail channels. All TRSTS data is reported on an unprojected (actual) basis. NPD estimates TRSTS retailers represent approximately 81% of total U.S. video games retail sales; however, representation of individual titles or specific platforms within a category may vary.

To qualify for the Los Angeles Technology Fast 50, companies must be in business for a minimum of five years; must not be a subsidiary or division; must have 1995 revenues of at least $50,000 and 1999 revenues of $1 million or more; must be considered a technology company that is defined as producing technology, manufacturing a technology-related product, being technologically intensive or using unique technology in problem-solving, or devoting a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology; and must have headquarters in Los Angeles, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, or Ventura counties.
