yes good backgrounds, good weapon effects, the new lighting, high res 1024x786, quality models and AAx4 really do make the game look a1 supar !

considering how old the game is its a miracle it looks this good

It looks beautiful Hai(yes)!

Gomen nasai(excusme).Hai freespace 2 is old game, but in my eyes its also most beautiful in whole world of space simulators.

Those pictures are fantastic. It goes to show what you can get out of an ageing game with some hard work. I suspect that the vital ingredient is the love for the subject matter?

This is still the best thing I've found on the Internet in about six years of surfing.

Nice!
And yes, that last shot is sweet.

So out of curiosity, how does one go about enabling 4x FSAA? I remember reading about that a long time ago, and never followed up on it. Now that I have a GF3, well, I think I ought to

well for me (ge force 2 gts) right click / proprties / settings / advanced / geforce2 gts tab / additional properties / 3d AA settings / none x2 x4 or allow programs to control

id imagine it'll be the same for all geforce cards if they have it

For you fans:
clickityclick

Notice that I didn't have particle beam effect yet, that's why effect is same as regular FS2 beam glow.

It's still WIP!

Edit: No FSAA is used in those screenshots.

Posted by pera on 12-29-2001 04:28 PM:

What the hell are those 3 minbari-looking "beams" in pic2?

Posted by Mr. Fury on 12-29-2001 04:57 PM:

Those beams are normal Sharlin's anti-fighter beams.
In certain views, beams can look like that.

Actually I'm surprised that you haven't noticed this in-game...

My TNT2 causes horrible clipping errors in every game, I haven't even noticed this minor bug.

Posted by Mr. Fury on 12-29-2001 08:18 PM:

Notice that unless you have GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500, new games can be very slow when using FSAA (Full Scene Anti-Aliasing).

Pera: actually it is not a bug but what the hell...
